Hospital Information Based at Heidelberg in Victoria’s largest medical precinct only 12 kilometres from the city, Mercy Hospital for Women is a technologically advanced, 229-bed facility. It is one of Victoria’s major hospitals providing public and private care for women and babies. This innovative, tertiary women’s hospital specialises in maternity, gynaecology and neonatal services. It is one of only four neonatal intensive care units in metropolitan Melbourne and is an accredited Level 3 specialist teaching facility in obstetrics, gynaecology, oncology, neonatology and anaesthetics. Werribee Mercy Hospital is a community general hospital providing surgical, medical, maternity, newborn, renal dialysis, emergency, mental health, aged and palliative care services. It also operates a Community Rehabilitation Centre and provides a range of home based support services across south western metropolitan Melbourne. The range of specialty areas within the department include inpatient and outpatient pharmacies, clinical trials, hospital in the home, , clinical pharmacy service, sterile and non-sterile manufacturing. Our team of approachable, experienced senior pharmacists, together with our fresh young pharmacists, provides an extremely supportive working environment, motivating and challenging, and a friendly workplace guaranteeing lots of fun and opportunities to learn. The department supports a number of young staff to attend conferences and seminars. It also encourages young staff to participate in shaping the future of pharmacy practice through engagement in professional organizations such as the Society of Hospital Pharmacist of Australia etc. Pharmacy Intern Training Fact Sheet for Mercy Health Page 2 of 3 Car parking for staff i s available on site on a casual or permanent basis depending on space availability. Alternatively, all-day parking is available in nearby streets within approximately ten minutes walking distance. Both Mercy Hospital for Women and Werribee Mercy Hospital are both well serviced by public transport with a major bus and train hub immediately opposite the hospital at Heidelberg and a train station close to Werribee at Hoppers Crossing. Salary packaging is available to all staff of Mercy Health and this reduces the taxable income, resulting in increased take home pay. A hospital e-mail account is provided to all staff of the pharmacy with internet access freely available within the department. All major retail services are available either onsite within the retail precinct or within 5 minutes walking distance from the Mercy Hospital for Women, Heidelberg.
