SEVENTH-DAY ADVENTIST CHURCH HOSTS INTERNATIONAL LIFESTYLE
MEDICINE EXPERT AND MOTIVATIONAL SPEAKER, DR. HANS DIEHL, IN
TRINIDAD
Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) such as diabetes, heart disease, hypertension, and obesity
currently adversely affect the lives of many here in Trinidad and Tobago. Many of these diseases can be
overcome by adopting a healthy lifestyle.
In order to help address this major health problem facing the nation, the Caribbean Union Conference of
Seventh-day Adventists Health Ministries, the South Caribbean Conference of Seventh-day Adventists
Health Ministries and the University of the Southern Caribbean, in partnership with the Ministry of
Health, will be hosting a week of special health activities in various parts of Trinidad from April 09-15,
2015 under the theme ‘Winning the Fight Against Non-Communicable Diseases In Trinidad and
Tobago.’
The main presenter for the initiative will be internationally recognized lifestyle medicine expert and
motivational speaker, Dr Hans Diehl, who is a Fellow of the National Institute of Health-Supported
Research in cardiovascular epidemiology at Loma Linda University, USA, and founder of the Complete
Health Improvement Project (CHIP) and the Life Style Medicine Institute in Loma Linda, California.
A grand opening ceremony will take place on Thursday April 9, 2015 at 8:00 am at the Radisson Hotel.
Church and Government officials as well as representatives from national and international NGOs will be
present.
On Thursday April 9, Dr Hans Diehl will be offering a special seminar entitled The Cause and Cure of
Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) from 10:30 am-4:30 pm at the Radisson Hotel. Topics which will
be covered during the seminar include:





Chronic Diseases: Emergence & Escalation, Economics & Management
Lifestyle Medicine: To Prevent and Reverse Chronic Diseases
Reversing Coronary Heart Disease with Fork and Knife
Preventing and Reversing Type 2 Diabetes
