Sponsored by › Terms and Conditions and Conditions of Entry This year artists will be invited to submit their work digitally. The online application form will be live from 18 March and artists will be able to upload their submission in a variety of formats. The online submission deadline is Thursday 30th April. For artists who feel strongly that their work must be seen in the original, there is a hand-­‐in period on 8th and 9th May in VISUAL. Please respect that this meant for exceptional circumstances only. A long-­‐list of selected works (NOT the final selection) must be available for collection/delivery to Dublin or Carlow on 8th and 9th June – artists will be contacted to arrange same. Up to 3 pieces can be submitted per artist but a maximum of 2 works may be selected for exhibition. All work submitted must have been completed between 2012 and 2015. Submitted work must be for sale. Film-­‐based work can be submitted online, or in QuickTime compatible format by post to Carlow Arts Festival, 9 Dublin Street, Carlow. Work is accepted for exhibition on merit. However, as wall space is limited, overly large-­‐
scale work may not be selected. Copyright of all work is the property of the artist. However, Carlow Arts Festival (Éigse) reserves the right to photograph work for publicity purposes. Please note this is a competition for exhibition with the chance of winning the overall prize of €5000 and therefore no artist fees are granted. ENTRY FEES An entry fee of €10 is payable (per artwork) online at time of submitting. All fees are non-­‐refundable. Alternatively cheque, postal/money orders should be made payable to ‘Carlow Arts Festival (Éigse)’ 9 Dublin Street, Carlow. Credit cards payments will be accepted Tues – Sat 11.00am – 5.30pm Sunday 2.oopm – 6.00pm daily on 059-­‐9172400 or www.carlowartsfestival.com (These incur a €1 charge per entry). LABELS Complete your labels at the same time as completing the details on the entry form to ensure that they correspond. Labels must be attached at the back of each two-­‐dimensional work, or underneath/tied to three-­‐dimensional works. Diptychs and triptychs must be clearly labeled (e.g. 1 of 3) with the artist’s name and title of the work on the reverse of each section. DVD’s must be clearly labeled on both disc and case. DELIVERING YOUR WORK Work submitted must be unwrapped (except shrink-­‐wrap on frames/card corners). Please do not submit very delicate work -­‐ owing to the amount of handling required we cannot guarantee its safety. SELECTION The adjudicators who may decide to accept or reject any work submitted at their sole discretion will view all works entered. Decisions taken by the adjudicators are final and binding. No correspondence will be entered into under any circumstance. NOTIFICATION AND COLLECTION OF UNSELECTED WORK All artists will be notified of the selection results by 19th May 2015 via email If unselected, your work must be collected from Carlow or Dublin on 23rd & 24th May between 11am and 5pm. Artists will be contacted. Selected works will be exhibited at Visual from 29 May – 30th August 2015. Unsold work can be collected from Visual from Thursday 4th -­‐ Saturday 6th September between 11am and 5pm. All artworks will be returned on the dates specified ONLY. No works can be collected in the interim. Carlow Arts Festival will not be responsible for any work that has not been collected on the specified dates. If you wish your work to be returned by post please include sufficient postage. If you are unable to collect your work, it is essential that you make arrangements for it to be collected on your behalf. Uncollected works will be subject to a storage fee of €7.50 per week. After 4 weeks it will become the property of Carlow Arts Festival to be disposed of or sold as they think fit. SALES A 30% commission will be taken on work sold. Prices stated on the entry form should include this commission. Carlow Arts Festival will not be responsible for the failure of completion of a sale whether or not a deposit has been received. INSURANCE You are strongly advised to insure your own work. Carlow Arts Festival (Éigse) or their carriers will not be responsible for the damage, loss, theft, or accident, of any kind, from any cause, while the works are under the control of Carlow Arts Festival whether or not caused by their negligence. WITHDRAWAL OF WORKS Carlow Arts Festival (Éigse) reserves the right to withdraw a work from the exhibition if for any reason the work, or any circumstances surrounding the display of the work, appears to Carlow Arts Festival Éigse to expose it to risk of legal proceedings. The Annual Éigse Award of €5000 (Open Submission) is a partnership between Carlow Arts Festival and VISUAL Centre for Contemporary Art, and is co-­‐funded by The Arts Council of Ireland and Carlow County Council Arts Office, and sponsored by Allied Irish Bank through their Carlow branch.
