McHenry County’s “Best” Tour
Thursday, April 30 Time: 10:00 am - 3:30 pm

Spend the day checking out several McHenry County
establishments that were chosen “McHenry County’s Best
2014” by Northwest Herald readers. Stops will include an antique shop, a women’s boutique, a gift shop, a cookie shop, and
a butcher shop. The group will enjoy an off the menu, self-pay
lunch at “Best” winner, Benedict’s La Strada in Crystal Lake.
Transportation is by Park District bus. Registration deadline is April 17 and refunds will not be issued after the
deadline.

What a treat! The RISE Group is treating you to a free musical presentation and Italian
luncheon. The program will be presented by music therapist and historian, Mary Ellen Heelan.
She will explore the fascinating and sometimes mysterious history of local dance halls and other
venues. Trap doors, hidden tunnels, and gangster connections will be explored. Get to know
music makers: bands, orchestras and choruses. Space is limited for this special program,
so sign up early to reserve your spot.

Once again the Kraus Senior Center will usher in the magic of spring with colorful spring
fashions adorning our beautiful Senior Center models. The Dress Barn will provide casual and
dressy fashions for the event. The Cary Police Department will sponsor the event with Officer
Eiring helping to serve as MC. A catered luncheon will include breast of chicken Florentine,
parsley baby red potatoes, vegetable, tossed salad & dessert. *Please contact the Senior
Center if you are interested in participating as a model in this event. Great fun!
