LONG-BIO: As the current President of the Commerce and Administration Students' Association (CASA), I have extensive experience managing the higher levels of the organization and the Board of Directors, as well as the more minor details. Over the past three years, I have been exposed to every aspect of CASA's operations, from financial planning, to academic advocacy for students, to developing external relations with partners outside the university, to strong corporate governance. Alongside my teammates, I led CASA into developing its long-term Strategic Plan, providing a clear direction for the organization and for students for the first time in 26 years. I also worked closely on CASA's Accreditation Campaign (which allows CASA to be a legally-recognized student advocacy body in the eyes of the Provincial Government and Concordia University), positioning CASA strongly for growth. As well, earlier this year, I worked closely with our current VP Finance to legitimize the financial structure of the organization through a thorough revamp of our accounting system, allowing for better transparency for students, as well as for CASA's auditors. Major projects accomplished this year include a brand new computer lab on the S1 level of JMSB (with a brand new laser colour printer being delivered this week!), a radical culture shift around events like Frosh to ensure accountability from CASA leadership (while still being an AWESOME event for students!!!), a long-range strategic plan as outlined above, among many other financial cost-saving measures through the streamlining of many of our operations. As well, over the past three years, I have occupied the following student leadership positions, all of which have given me the experience and the knowledge to represent JMSB students effectively as an Independent Director of the CASA Board: - CASA President - CASA VP External - Chairman, Canadian Association of Business Students (CABS) - Chairman, CASA Strategic Planning Committee - Chairman, CASA Appointments Committee - Chairman, Special Projects Committee - Director, CASA Finance Committee - Senator, Concordia University - Student Representative, JMSB Faculty Council - Student Representative, JMSB Strategic Planning Committee - Councillor, Concordia Student Union (CSU) - JMSB Representative, CSU Finance Committee - JMSB Representative, CSU Fund Committee - JMSB Representative, CSU Policy Committee In 2015-2016, JMSB will face many challenges, including possible curriculum changes, the implementation of strategic imperatives by the faculty, and university budget cuts. I am here to represent the interests of the everyday JMSB student. Thus, I want to leverage my experience, knowledge, and influence on CASA to be able to continue striving to make JMSB the strongest business school, with the strongest students. Should you have any questions at all, I invite you to email me directly at any time ([email protected]) or call/text me at 514-995-5163. Let's steer JMSB forward. Together.
