The Girls’ Varsity and JV tennis teams faced Kentucky Country Day and
emerged victorious in a close match. Winning matches for the team were
Jeannie Soto in singles, and the doubles teams of Ellen Joss/Isabel Puri, Katie Stahl/
Tatum Plyler, Rebecca Liu/Emma Wheeler.
Later in the week, the girls’ Varsity and JV Tennis teams enjoyed a big victory against
Butler. Winning in singles: Isabel Puri, Ellen Joss, Tatum Plyler. Winning in doubles: Jeannie Soto/Anna Falk, Audrey Whitacre/Katie Stahl, Emma Wheeler/Rebecca
Liu, Caroline Husband/Nicole Davis, Lydia Crouch/Lauren Seaton. Great job girls!
With one of the state's best distance runners (Hannah Herd) not having taken the track yet this season, the
Lady Centurions are still ranked 8th in KytrackXC.com's Power Rankings. The rankings are derived from
taking all of the seasons results and scoring them like one enormous meet. The Lady Centurions get their
points off the arm of Lilli Popovich - who owns the state's best throw in both the shot put and discus. Once
Hannah get fully back and Lilli resumes more track time (couldn't run most of last season), the team will be
able to line-up more effectively in meets - meaning that there is more potential on this team!

CAL 6TH GRADERS WIN TOURNEY CHAMPIONSHIP
On March 27th and 28th, Christian Academy of Louisville successfully
hosted the Inaugural Indoor Field Hockey Classic tournament for middle school teams. Beginning on Friday afternoon and ending on Saturday evening, 16 teams from 9 different schools congregated at the English Station campus to participate in this competitive event. The Blue
Gym was the place to be to see all the action as each team strived to
drive the ball into the goal. Including spectators, coaches, and players,
over 400 people were at the event. The CAL 6th grade team won the
Championship in the 5th/6th grade division and the Holy Trinity team
won the Championship in the 7/8th grade division. Great fun was had
by all and all had the opportunity to see the beautiful CAL English Station campus, many for the first time.
Many hours of planning by the middle school coaches and field hockey parents contributed to the positive
turnout for this event. Thank you to all the parents and others who volunteered their time. A special thanks
to all the fantastic CAL staff members who supported this event in a variety of ways!

VARSITY LACROSSE FALLS TO SHARP SHOOTING TITANS
Tuesday March 31 brought the Titans of Collegiate to Christian Academy for boy’s varsity lacrosse. While
the Centurions posted a good offensive effort, the Titans, with some early sharp shooting, jumped ahead in
the first half and held on to win 12 – 7.
Jonathan Lytle and Preston Gilbert lead the scoring for CAL with three goals each. Holten Durenberger
rounded out the CAL effort with one shot in the net. Joe Zeiser, Caleb Anderson, Lytle and Durenberger all
posted assists on the offensive end.
As the game began, the Titans scored quickly and often with five goals in the first quarter and four in the second to go into halftime up 9-5. The Centurion defense regrouped and responded well holding the visitors
from Collegiate to only three second half goals, but the damage was done.
Refreshed from a week off for Easter Break and heading in to district play, boy’s lacrosse hosts the Eastern
Eagles this Friday April 17. Come out and cheer on your varsity and junior varsity lacrosse teams!

Windy conditions as CAL JV prepares to play Collegiate JV lax. No one scored in the first quarter, but goalie
Andrew Barbour blocked attempts by the other team to score. It wasn't until the second quarter that Richard
Karr (24) made the first score for CAL quickly followed by Chandler Halloway (3) scoring. Collegiate made
back to back goals and tried their best to gain ground, but CAL came on strong! Final score 10-2 victory!!
CAL is 4-0 in the season! Go CAL!
