Heavenly Father,
On this Memorial Day, we pray for those who courageously
laid down their lives for the cause of freedom. May the example of their sacrifice inspire in us the selfless love of your Son,
our Lord Jesus Christ.
Bless the families of our fallen troops, and fill their homes and
their lives with your strength and peace.

A Closer Walk
Jesus invites each one of us to a deep personal relationship with Him. We respond
to the Lord’s call by becoming disciples. More than simply tagging along in the
crowd, discipleship involves a commitment to abide with Jesus, a surrender to the
transforming power of His love. Wherever you may be on the journey, Kellie Reilly’s reflections on discipleship hope to inspire a closer walk with the Lord.
The Holy Spirit is at work within us
We too have had our own personal Pentecost at our Confirmation. Sealed with the Gift of the Holy Spirit, each
one of us has been strengthened to fulfill the unique role that the Lord has in mind for us – a specific mission
that no one else can accomplish. The Holy Spirit is essential to our life as disciples, both the interior life of our
souls and our daily life of witness in the world. May we be ever attentive to His divine action within us, as St
Bernard expresses it: “Let us invoke the Spirit of truth, let us call to Him from the deep into which He has led
us, because He leads us on the way by which we discover ourselves, and without Him we can do nothing. Nor
should we be afraid that He will disdain to come down to us, for the contrary is true: He is displeased if we
attempt even the least thing without Him.” But our relationship with the Spirit isn’t confined to just what we
ask; rather, we are to be open and receptive to what the Spirit wants to give us. St Bernard calls us to the
“utmost vigilance in attending to these gift-laden visits of the Holy Spirit…the work of salvation ceaselessly
performed in our inmost being with all the skill and sweetness of the Holy Spirit’s artistry.” He is our “heavensent Director, Who can teach us all things…Let Him never find us unprepared when He comes” (quoted in

The Girls Count Act would help to
protect young children around the world, especially girls, who are particularly vulnerable to
human trafficking and child marriages. More
specifically, it would support birth registration
and other legal documentation of children
around the world. The legislation also authorizes the U.S. Agency for International Development to build governments’ capacities to increase girls’ access to education, property
rights and other means of economic security.
Oscar Arnulfo Romero y Galdamez was born on August
12, 1917, In Ciudad Barrios, El Salvador. He was ordained to the
priesthood in 1942 and appointed archbishop of El Salvador’s
capital, San Salvador, in February 1977, at a time when reports
of human rights violations by government troops and death
squads were on the rise.
A little more than a month after his appointment to San Salvador, Archbishop
Romero’s close friend and minister to El Salvador’s campesinos, Jesuit Fr. Rutilio

Bereavement Ministry
Who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. For as we share abundantly in Christ’s sufferings, so through Christ we share abundantly in comfort too.
2 Corinthians 1:4-5
Losing a family member can be one of the most difficult and painful experiences a
person will go through. It is important to have a solid support system of friends and
other family members during such devastating times. The Church asks that the entire
community, priests and laity be involved in ministering to the family of the deceased.
The Bereavement Ministry is an outreach program for members of our Parish who
are experiencing personal loss through death. The Ministry performs a number of
tasks and hold various responsibilities vital to helping bereaved church members deal
with their loss and we are in desperate need of committee members to help grow and
improve our Ministry. The Christ the King Bereavement Ministry invites you to offer your time and talent to serving Christ through this Ministry. If interested please
feel free to contact me, Cindy Kopczyk, by email [email protected] . Training

Gathering Song: Blessed Be Your Name
Song of Preparation: Holy is the Lord
Blessed be Your name
In the land that is plentiful
Where Your streams of abundance flow
Blessed be Your name
We stand and lift up our hands
For the joy of the Lord is our strength
We bow down and worship Him now
How great how awesome is He
Blessed be Your name
When I'm found in the desert place
Though I walk through the wilderness
Blessed be Your name
And together we sing
Ev'ryone sing
Every blessing You pour out
I'll turn back to praise
When the darkness closes in
Lord still I will say
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your glorious name
Blessed be Your name
When the sun's shining down on me
When the world's all as it should be
Blessed be Your name
Holy is the Lord God Almighty
The earth is filled with His glory
Holy is the Lord God Almighty
The earth is filled with His glory
The earth is filled with His glory
It is rising up all around
It's the anthem of the Lord's renown
It's rising up all around
It's the anthem of the Lord's renown

Above all powers above all kings
Above all nature and all created things
Above all wisdom and all the ways of man
You were here before the world began
Above all kingdoms above all thrones
Above all wonders the world has ever known

Sending Forth: Whom Shall I Fear (God Of Angel Armies)
You hear me when I call
You are my morning song
Though darkness fills the night
It cannot hide the light
Whom shall I fear
You crush the enemy underneath my feet
You are my sword and shield
Though troubles linger still
Whom shall I fear
I know Who goes before me
I know Who stands behind
The God of angel armies is always by my side
The One who reigns forever
He is a friend of mine
The God of angel armies is always by my side
My strength is in Your name
For You alone can save
You will deliver me
Yours is the victory
Whom shall I fear
