ARCHBISHOP & AUXILIARY BISHOP’S ENGAGEMENTS
CANADIAN JOURNEY IN RESTORATIVE JUSTICE: Join Archbishop Prendergast in the Walk for Reconciliation from
Gatineau (de l’Île High School/Robert-Guertin Arena) to Ottawa City Hall before noon on Sun., May 31, in solidarity with
aboriginal peoples to heal the wounds of Indian Residential Schools. See the video (http://catholicottawa.ca/video)
addressing the issues in our residential schools with regard to our aboriginal brothers and sisters and our need to ask
for forgiveness for the wounds they suffered while in the care of the residential schools. Contained within the video is

DIOCESAN FEAST DAY: Celebrate the foundation of the diocese and the 20th anniversary of the episcopal ordination
of Archbishop Prendergast at Notre Dame Cathedral, Thurs., June 11, 7:30 p.m. The papal nuncio to Canada,
Archbishop Luigi Bonazzi will offer the homily. All are welcome and encouraged to attend.

that "the Church's mission is faced by the challenge of meeting the needs of all people to return to their roots and to
protect the values of their respective cultures. This means knowing and respecting other traditions and philosophical
systems, and realizing that all peoples and cultures have the right to be helped from within their own traditions to enter
into the mystery of God's wisdom and to accept the Gospel of Jesus, who is light and transforming strength for all

LETTER ON ASSISTED SUICIDE: The President of the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB) has written

LIFE & FAMILY SUGGESTIONS FOR HOMILIES & PRAYERS OF THE FAITHFUL DURING JUNE 2015: The CCCB
continues to post possible homily ideas and prayers of the faithful to help link the Sunday liturgy with the national
pastoral initiative for life and family. The proposed texts for the month of June 2015 include suggestions from the
Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, June 7, to the 13th Sunday in Ordinary Time, June 28. As usual,
the suggestions for homilies and prayers can be easily adapted for family prayer, as well as for personal prayer or for
use with other groups or organizations. The texts for the month of June are available on the special Life and Family
webpage, under the section "Documents and activities proposed by the CCCB" at (www.cccb.ca).
CNEWA CANADA 10TH ANNIVERSARY & EMERGENCY MIDDLE EAST CAMPAIGN: The Chair of the Board of
CNEWA Canada, the Most Reverend Terrence Prendergast, S.J., has issued a statement marking the pontifical

PARISH ADMINISTRATION
PRAYERS: For the repose of the soul of Agnes Hayman, mother of Fr. Doug Hayman, Priest Administrator of
Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Personal Ordinariate of the Chair of St. Peter. Mrs. Hayman died at home on
Friday, May 22 in her 89th year. The funeral was at Tubman’s Garden Chapel on May 28. Please pray for the repose of
her soul and keep Fr. Hayman and his family in your prayers.

PRAYERS FOR VOCATIONS: The Most Holy Trinity – May 31. That the mystery of the love of the Blessed Trinity,
manifest in the gift of Jesus Christ, will strengthen many men and women to respond to that love as priests, deacons
and in the consecrated life. The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ – June 7. That all Catholics will adore the great
gift of the Holy Eucharist given to them by Jesus Christ at the hands of His priests and that those chosen to nourish His
body as priests and in the consecrated life will inspire many more to follow Him.
ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP – 2015 FEDERAL ELECTION GUIDE: The Canadian Council of Churches, in
collaboration with partner organizations including KAIROS and Citizens for Public Justice, has compiled a resource for
Canadian voters in preparation for the 2015 Canadian federal election. The resource identifies a range of priority
issues including Responding to God’s Call for Climate Justice. Included are sample questions one can ask of
