has taught Sacred Scripture at St. John’s Seminary
in Boston for over 25 years. He received his License
in Biblical Theology from the Pontifical Biblical Institute in 1987. A graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, he attended Saint John’s Seminary, in
Boston. He was ordained in 1979. He regularly gives

A priest of the Archdiocese of St. Louis, Father
Hughes is a well-known Church history, author and
preacher. historian, and preacher. He was a former
student of Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger in Germany.
He is the author of twelve books, including a book
entitled Stories Jesus Told: Modern Meditations on
the Parables and his spiritual autobiography, No Ordinary Fool: A Testimony of Grace.

A priest of the Archdiocese of Dubuque, he is pastor of the Prince of Peace Cluster in Traer, Iowa and is the author of two books
on preaching, Masters of Preaching, The Most Poignant and Powerful Homilists in Church History. Volumes I and II, which he
wrote because when he was looking for a book systematically presenting Church teaching and history on preaching, he could
not find one. So he decided to write two. He holds a BA in Journalism/Mass Communications from Drake University, an M.Div.
and a MA from the Josephinum.

Seminar Details
Registration is limited to 75 priests and transitional deacons, so priests are encouraged to register as early as possible. The Seminar begins Easter Tuesday, April 7, at 4 pm. Attendees may start arriving at 2 pm. The cost of the Seminar is $200, which includes all great Eastermeals and lodging.
There is no Mass scheduled for Tuesday, but if priests need to celebrate Mass
because of travel, arrangements will be made. On Wednesday, there will be a
concelebrated Mass at 11:30. On Thursday there will be a concelebrated Mass
at 8 am. The Seminar will finish after a 9 am breakfast. There will be the option
to celebrate private Masses for priests who wish. Lauds, Vespers and Compline
are prayed each day in common. Eucharistic adoration will also take place. On
Wednesday and Thursday there will be preached meditations offered and the
availability of the Sacrament of Penance.
The Seminar is sponsored by the New England Theological Forum, an educational service of the priests of the Prelature of Opus Dei and the Priestly Society
of the Holy Cross in the dioceses of New England. To Register
