Keynote speaker Steve Young
Mr. Young is a Managing Partner and Co-founder of HGGC. He is
also a member of HGGC’s Policy and Investment Committee and
Executive Committees. HGGC is an evolution of the Huntsman Gay
Investment Fund and was a spin off of Sorenson Capital. In his role
at HGGC he is intimately engaged in the commercial real estate
sector. Mr. Young will address national and international trends
impacting business and commercial real estate in 2015.
GOVERNOR GARY HERBERT
Governor for the State of Utah
Governor Gary Herbert forged a career as a
real estate developer and now leads Utah as
the State’s 17th Governor. As Governor he
has brought Utah from a Great Recession to a
position of national economic prominence by
focusing on four cornerstones to strengthen
the economy: education, economic development, energy, and selfdetermination.
Formerly he was an appointee to the Utah County Commission
and later served as Lieutenant Governor for five years. He
currently serves as Vice Chair of the National Governors
Association (NGA), and will chair the organization in 2015-2016.

Administration. Before founding Cynosure, Mr.
Quarles was a longtime partner of The Carlyle
Group, one of the world’s largest private equity

In addition to his record as a successful investor, he has long

architecture, having represented the U.S. for many years in the
G7, G20, and Financial Stability Forum, and having served the
U.S. as Executive Director of the International Monetary Fund,
Executive Director of the European Bank for Reconstruction and
Development, and as a member of the Board of Directors of the
Overseas Private Investment Corporation.
