Sub-Inspector (GD) in CBI - 2015
Sir,
A Limited Departmental Competitive Examination for promotion of
departmental Head Constables (GD) to the grade of ASI (GD) in CBI is
proposed to be held on 27.06.2015 (Saturday) at CBI Training Academy,
Kamla Nehru Nagar, Hapur Road, Ghaziabad (U.P.) for filling 8 vacancies in
the rank of ASI (GD). However, the number of vacancies available will be taken
into account at the time of preparation of select panel.

Departmental Head Constables (in General Cadre only) of CBI with at
least 3 years' regular service (excluding ad-hoc service, if any) in that grade in
the CBI as on 01.01.2015 would be eligible to appear in the said examination.
The departmental Head Constables in MT Cadre and Head Constables
presently working in CBI on deputation are not eligible to appear in the said
examination.

The subjects of the written examination, the time allowed and the
maximum marks for each paper will be as follows:-

The can , lidates are required to secure a minimum 01 40% marks in each
paper and aggregate of 45% to qualify. However, as pe' Govt. instructions
conveyed vide DP&T OM No.36012/23/96-Estt.(Res.) Vol II dated 3.10.2000,
relaxation/concession in the matter of promotion of candidates belonging
SC/ST categories by way of lowering qualifying marks that existed prior to
20.7.1997 and which was dispensed with, has been restored. The candidates
who qualify in the written test will be interviewed and their service records will
be assessed.
The syllabus for the examination will be as under:PAPER-I
Combined paper for English, General Knowledge 8r, Practical.
The question paper of English will consist of writing one paragraph on
some topic to be confined to 100 words and a comprehension test. The
questions on General Knowledge will be confined to current topics. The
question papers for practical will be selected out of the following subjects: For
this purpose, Supdts. of Police/HOBs may arrange lectures at their respective
branches as indicated below:-

In order to acquaint the Head Constables with the nature of work done
by the Assistant Sub-Inspectors of Police, training may be given to the Head
Constables who are eligible for appearing in the examination for promotion to
the rank of ASI. Lectures are to be arranged on all the seven subjects of
Paper-I as mentioned above. In respect of such Head Constables posted in
CBI, Head Office, Lectures may be arranged by SP(HQ)/CBI,
The q testion Paper-I consists of 3 parts viz. Gen •ral English, General

Knowledge nd Practical. The questions of General Kn wledge and Practical
can be ans iered in English or Hindi but the questiot of General English
must be an ,wered in English only. Paper - II (Law a id Procedure) will be
bilingual, i.c , in English as well as in Hindi. Like Paper I, the candidates will
have the opr on to write answers in Paper - II either in English or in Hindi.

It is requested that contents of this circular may be brought to the notice
of all the eligible Head Constables (GD) and service particulars etc. of those
eligible Head Constables who intend to appear in the Limited Departmental
Competitive Examination may please be sent to Head office by 17th June,
2015 positively in the enclosed pro-forma (Annexfure -I), through Speed Post,
FAX/E-Mail 1ospers3acbi.gov.in ). If there is no willing/eligible Head Constable
in the Branch/Unit, a 'Nil' information may also be sent to Head Office.
It shall be the full responsibility of the Head of Branch to ensure

circulation of the scheme amongst all persons concerned even on leave or on
tour or on deputation including Head Constables posted in various units, if
any under their administrative control. The applications of willing and eligible
Head Constables must be dispatched well in advance so is to reach in HO on
or before 17.06.2015. No application received in HO after 17.06.2015 shall be
entertained under any circumstances including any pretext whatsoever.
Further, it may also be ensured that the applicants who have been allotted Roll
Number by HO must appear for the examination without any fail. However, if
any of the willing candidates does not want to appear in the said exam for any
special circumstances/reasons, the concerned SP would inform HO at least
one week before the date of the exam.
