Well, spring has officially arrived in North Idaho! Spring sports are underway and with our spring weather comes many cancellations and postponements of a variety of contests. You may want to check our website for current schedules and call if you have any questions about last minute changes. Registration for the 2015-2016 school year has begun. Over the next few weeks we will continue registering our currently enrolled freshmen, sophomores, and juniors for the next school year. This year class selections for registration is all online. If you have questions or concerns about your son or daughter’s course selections, please contact our Counseling Center and speak directly with your child’s counselor, 7692942. I would like to remind all Lake City High School parents that the Coeur d’Alene School District has a voluntary drug testing program for athletes and students in activities. This spring our coaches have asked all the athletes on their teams and our activities advisors have also asked students in their programs if they would voluntarily agree to testing. Once the list of students from each activity or athletic team is accumulated, that list will be turned over to Jim Winger, Assistant Principal and Activities Director. Mr. Winger will then randomly select an identified number of students in each activity and on each athletic team to be tested sometime in the spring. I strongly support this program and encourage any parent who is interested to check with their son or daughter to see if they have agreed to the voluntary testing. You can contact the advisor of any activity and/or your head coach or assistant coaches in any sport to check on your son or daughter’s involvement; and, if you would choose, have them be a part of this program. We hope you had an enjoyable spring vacation and we look forward to closing the school year on a very positive note. Deanne Clifford, Principal Counselor’s Center…. Be sure to stay up to date on important events, scholarship deadlines, and upcoming events by visiting the Counseling Center Website! Check out your Class Newsletters from your counselors! From the Registrar…. REMOVAL FROM CLASS If at any time a student is withdrawn from a class for discipline or attendance reasons, the student will receive an “F” regardless of current academic status in that class. This grade will become part of the student’s permanent record. HAVE YOU MOVED? HAS YOUR ADDRESS CHANGED? Please remember to inform the Registrar’s office if you have moved or have had a county address change. In order to make address changes we need to have an address change form filled out and signed by the parent or you can simply make the change on Skyward Family Access. 1 PROCEDURE FOR STUDENTS CHECKING OUT OF SCHOOL EARLY HOMEWORK HELP AND TUTORING PROGRAM Students who must withdraw from Lake City High School prior to the last day of school due to a family move, educational activity, family emergency, etc., are asked to follow this procedure: (1) Several weeks (2-3) prior to the end of school, send a note with your child to give to the Registrar explaining the situation and the student’s last date of attendance. If proper arrangements have been made in advance, credit may be granted if a student misses the last couple weeks of the school year due to extreme circumstances. (2) Your child’s attendance will be checked and the information forwarded to the Principal for a decision. (3) When the Principal’s decision has been made, the student and teachers will be notified of the recommended grading procedure. (4) Make sure arrangements for applicable End of Course exams and make up work have been made prior to the student’s last day of attendance so granting of credit is not an issue.
