FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Will my Hudson Online class meet
on campus?
No, our online courses are completely online. For
a hybrid courses, there is a combination of faceto-face classroom time and online instruction.
Classes will begin on their scheduled due date.
You should log into Hudson Online on the first
day of class, and then you will need to connect to
your course at least several times a week to keep
up with class discussions, questions, assignments,
tests, and quizzes.
How do I get to my
Hudson Online courses?
To access your courses, login to MyHudson Portal
(myhudson.hccc.edu) and click on Blackboard
link located on the [Student] page. Or, go
directly to hudsonccc.blackboard.com and log in
using your MyHudson username and password.
A contact number for Blackboard Technical
Support and other useful information is available
on the Center for Online Learning page, located
under [Academics] on the MyHudson Portal.
Will an online course count towards my
degree or program?
A student can register and enroll in an online
course as long as the total number of online
credits completed does not exceed 50% of the
credits required for the student’s course of study.
If a student exceeds this percentage of online
credits, the additional credits will not count
toward graduation or certificate requirements.
How will I know what books I need for
my Hudson Online course?
Once you register, your course syllabus will be
listed on The Center for Online Learning portal
page along with the books and resources you’ll
need prior to the start of your course.
How many hours per week will I be
required to spend on my online course?
This is a very important question and one that
you need to consider before enrolling in any
online course.
If you are taking a fifteen-week, 3-credit course
online, you should expect to spend about the
same amount of time that you would spend if
you were taking the course in the traditional,
in-person classroom mode.
When taking a seven-week, accelerated 3-credit
course online, you should expect to spend
between 20-26 hours per week on that course.
Of those hours, about 7 hours each week will be
spent within Blackboard, and the remainder will
be spent completing readings and assignments.
