Roger Plays Bass Saxophone
in the Big Band
Our resident Roger is a musician
and has been all over the Tampa
area in his younger years making
beautiful music for others to enjoy.
The group he belongs to is called
“The Harmonizers,” meeting at the
Timber Pines clubhouse for others to
attend and dance to the tunes. We
greatly enjoyed listening to his group
and music.
Roger, we are
proud of you!

Our Prom Held on April 18th!
We coupled up with Springstead High School, Sherwood Florist,
David’s Bridal, our Culinary Chef Mark and staff and our Limousine
Service for a wonderful Oscar special event! Our pictures will soon
follow for all to see as we voted on a King and Queen and everyone
had a date with dancing to the Big Band music by Frankie D from
New York and his musicians, including Wayne Grim, Ruth E.’s
husband. Great food, lovely music also, including the singer Drema
and decorations galore with an arbor, lights and so many things to
bring a most memorable night!
Visiting the Famous Plant
City, Fla., Strawberry Festival
We couldn’t resist taking a ride south to the forever
tasty strawberry festival with huge bowls and walls full
of strawberries, a vast supply of whipped cream, baked
goods, vendors with food of all kinds and crafts of every
description. This was their 80th year and it was celebrated
in great style! See the pictures and imagine the wonderful
taste of fresh strawberries on cake or biscuits with sweet
strawberry syrup and whipped cream topped with a large
strawberry. Oh, it was wonderful!
The 80th year cake.
Yum, this was so
enjoyable. I wish
everyone could have
had one of these!

Visiting the Clearwater
Aquarium with
Winter and Hope
We enjoyed
taking our
residents to visit
the aquarium
where the
movies were
produced of
Dolphin Tale I
The Gregorys from Maine going
and II. It is great
on their first outing with us.
to be in the same
state and area to just jump on the bus and go see their
movie from where it all began and those who rescued
Winter. What a privilege to not only see their famous
movies but also see them in their actual homes. We all
expect to go back and see the new improvements to the
aquarium so they can have even a bigger area to swim
and play.
Winter enjoying everyone watching. How sweet.

Visiting the Dali Museum
on a Sunny Florida Day
We boarded the bus to go see Salvador Dali’s creations
and paintings. He painted a lot of abstract art but
changed in the 1940s to study Da Vinci’s work and has
a lot of paintings with his slant. We enjoyed browsing
through the museum, then sitting outside on a warm
and sunny day. We then boarded the bus for some
sightseeing of the famous waterways in St. Petersburg,
Fla. Everyone was getting hungry so we escaped to
Grazzi’s restaurant for lunch, having Italian fare. Pictures
were allowed to be taken of Dali’s paintings and brought
back for our residents to view his creations. Our trips
always end with an offer to stop for ice cream and so
that is just what we did.
Nellie enjoying the
warm sunny day outside
of Dali museum.
Dori enjoying the trip.

Valentine’s Dinner Dance
and the Lovely Pictures
of That Wonderful Night!
Everyone enjoyed Gary Hitchcock’s melodious voice
as he sang song after song, reminding us of loving
our neighbor and appreciating each other in a very
special way. Kisses were given to each person, the
chocolate kind, of course. We just danced, hugged,
posed for portraits and felt love from every corner of
the building to just be there, be close and show love
to each neighbor of the Salishan community. “Oh my
love, my darling ...” was one of the most lovely songs
sung by Gary. What thanks are owed to our culinary
staff for serving a marvelous dinner of stuffed pork
and all the fixings with, of course, a lovely chocolate
raspberry cheesecake dessert.

Nancy Hecht’s daughter went on a ceramic shopping trip with
us to show us how to buy ceramics and then set up classes to
help us paint them. We have enjoyed the process and learned
so much as we thank her for her time, expertise and helping
us show off our cute ceramic pieces and bunnies. We all feel
proud of our pieces. Thank you, Nancy and Barbara!
