what a Mystery Quilt is……A
mystery quilt is a quilt project
that remains a mystery until the quilt is finished or until
the participants figure it out. Participants are given
Instructional clues and have no idea what the outcome is going to be. It is usually a wall hanging size
or a small project….
The Mariners compass quilts have been one of
the most popular designs for many decades…
This class is for intermediate quilters who have
taken a basic paper piecing class. Learn to
draft a traditional Mariner's Compass using only
a pencil and ruler. Sew directly on the pattern
using foundation-piecing techniques –
no templates! Compasses of any shape or
size may be drafted once this easy technique is
learned.
Spend a day working on a Mystery Quilt by Debbie
Caffrey. You will receive a list as to what amounts of
each fabric you will need to purchase from Linda Z’s
and preliminary cutting and sewing instructions you
will need to do before class. Then in the workshop,

Paper Piecing
Paper (foundation) piecing is great for achieving sharp points, but did you
know there are three ways to do paper piecing? Learn all three while
making a miniature heart quilt. Foundation block piecing consists of sewing
pieces of fabric on to a paper or muslin to form a quilt block, While this
technique is most often used on miniature quilts it can be used for creating
full-sized quilt blocks as well.
