PALM SUNDAY OF THE PASSION OF THE LORD MARCH 29, 2015
Palm Sunday
Today, Palm Sunday, marks the beginning of Holy
Week, the most sacred time of our liturgical year. It is a time
that calls us to immerse ourselves ever more deeply in the
life, death and resurrection of Christ and to experience again
the life-saving power of Christ that brings Easter joy! The
services of holy Week are unparalleled in the Church year –
rich in symbols, ritual and drama. We pray that all of you
will take the opportunity to experience the richness of this
time that leads to shouts of Easter joy!
Holy Week Services
Palm Sunday – celebrates Christ’s triumphal
entrance into Jerusalem.
Chrism Mass – On Tuesday of Holy Week, the
priests of the Archdiocese gather together with Archbishop
Schnurr for the Chrism Mass. Here the sacred Chrism Oil,
the Oil of the Sick and the Oil of the Catechumens are
blessed. It is also a time for priests to recommit themselves
as servants of the Church.
The Easter Triduum – begins with Holy
Thursday – April 2. Here we celebrate the gift of the
Eucharist and our call to service and ministry in the Church.
The washing of feet is a reminder of our call to service. The
Holy Oils blessed at the Chrism Mass are presented to the
parish.
On Good Friday – April 3, we celebrate the
Passion and Death of Our Lord Jesus Christ. A barren church
with a wooden cross becomes our focus. The path to Easter
joy must go through Good Friday.
The Easter Vigil on Holy Saturday – April 4
begins in darkness. The old lights have been put out and a
new fire has been ignited. The Easter candle, a symbol of
Christ, is blessed in water that will be used to baptize the
newest members of our Parish family. Sojourners in the rite
of Christian Initiation, will join us through the waters of
Baptism and as fully initiated members in our Catholic faith.
Truly the joy of Easter will resound as Alleluias ring out.
On Easter Sunday – April 5, we continue to
celebrate that Christ the Lord has risen and that one day we
shall join in the glory and majesty of His Resurrection.
May the richness of Holy Week and the joy of Easter
fill your hearts.
Fr. Ken & Fr. Alt

Missionaries of the Precious Blood
Volunteers Needed
One of the traditional prayers of the Missionaries of
the Precious Blood, who celebrate 200 years as a religious
congregation in 2015, is the Seven Offerings of the Precious
Blood. This prayer begins, “Eternal Father, we offer you the
Precious Blood of Jesus, poured out on the cross and offered
daily on the altar, for the glory of your name, for the coming
of your kingdom, and for the salvation of all people.” You
can learn more about this powerful prayer, and many other
Precious Blood pr ayers and de votions, at
preciousbloodspirituality.org.
Vacation Bible School will be held June 22-26 and
we need volunteers. If you are interested in assisting before,
during or after our program please join us for an

Congratulations to the following students for earning
Pizza with the Principal last month: Rose McGohan (6th
grade), Alex Stachler (5th grade), and Carter Hellwarth (4th
grade)! We are proud of the good choices you make and
thank you for setting a positive example for others!
The sixth grade recently presented an assembly about
the next Beatitude: Blessed are the peacemakers, for they
shall be called the children of God. They demonstrated
several different situations in which peacemakers helped
make a bad situation much better. We will practice being
peacemakers here at school and at home with our families!
IC School will be in session on Thursday, April 2
and Monday, April 6 as make-up days.
