After a great week’s training sees us up against a very determined Northern Lakes outfit today and I’m sure it is going to be another cracker day of Footy at Watanobbi Stadium. UMINA BEACH A Huge R.L.F.C. thanks to our Sponsors for 2015. Your help is appreciated as we strive to make Central Wyong a long term success in the Central Coast Competition. With three players backing against top AM BE up from playing a game the day before with the Central Coast Rep Team this would always be a tough ask RA L against a Terrigal team that had cemented itself as one of the teams to beat in the competition. We R started the game well and captain Troy Woodley set up a flying Brad Bennett who opened up the scoring LE UG AG BY with a great try after 5minutes of play. From the ensuing set Jake O’Brien showed great pace and footwork to UE race away for a 50 metre try and extend our lead by 10points - nil. The tide of the match then changed and Terrigal got their fair share of possession and constructed two tries of their own to take a 12points - 10 lead. Some 50/50 calls went against the boys and Terrigal crossed for another try just before the halftime break and extended their lead by 16points-10 at the halftime break. The team started the second half the same way they started the first with good direction and forwards leading the way and it was a Brad Bennett cross field kick that saw Blake Wagner leap in the air to score a great try under the posts, the try was converted and the scores were locked up at 16all. We were then forced to play a man down for the remaining 30minutes of the match when we had a front rower sent off. The team worked for each other and with a player down scored a great team try out wide to Jake O’Brien which saw us take the lead by 20points - 16. As with the way the match had gone Terrigal struck back with a try of their own which was converted and they led by 22points -20. The team remained calm and with minutes remaining a towering bomb saw Terrigal cough up possession, Jae Woodley stayed alive and picked up the loose ball and he found a flying Jake O’Brien who raced away to score his third day of the day and allowed us to grab back the lead, once again the try was converted and we ended up running out winners by 26points-20. The effort from the team was outstanding and playing the majority of the second half with a man down the team worked for each other and toughed out a great win at home. 1 point went to Jake Hardman who also made his first grade debut and was great for the team when he came on the field, 2 points went to Brad Bennett who steered the team well around the park and whose kicking game was second to none, 3 points and Players Player went to Jake O’Brien who scored 3 tries and had the defence second guessing every time he touched the ball. The boys will look to back up today in their match against Toukley Hawks who are also one of the form teams of the competition. AUSSTEEL FRAMES RESERVE GRADE- Rd 7: A much improved effort from the boys this week even though the score did not reflect how dominant we were. At least 80% of the game was spent in our oppositions half of the field and to Terrigals credit they made the most of their limited opportunities, running in 3 tries to 1. Half time score Kincumber down 4 – 16. The 2nd Half saw much of the same from our boys with the big difference being our ability to get across the line. A lot of pressure was put on the Terrigal defence and to our boys credit they remained patient and the tries came. Full time Kincumber 20 – 16. Tries this week went to Stubsy, Pitty and 2 to Drummo with Trav being credited with 2 goals (Questionable). Award winners this week: Travis Gallen 3 points and Players Player, Jesse Jackson 2 points and 1 point each to Luke Woodley & Kyle Sabroe. We are looking forward to a big effort against Toukley next week. CENTRAL COAST OZ TAG LADIES TAG- Rd 7: The girls had another great win on the weekend over Terrigal 50-0. We were tested early but our defence is strong and every week we improve a little more. Our defence was a great team effort and leading the way was Molly and Bec doing some great Tagging. Kirsty and Rachel took the ball to the line well and good straight running with good support from Jayme, Ranni, Sian, Jasmyn and Lilly lead to some good tries. Tries were scored by Molly-2, Jayme-2, Kirsty, Bec and Tara. And Sian never let us down with her 7 conversions. The kicking game has been getting better also forcing a line drop and some good balls to chase for Tara and Alicia. 2 schooners went to Rachel and 1 to Nerida for diving on the loose balls which was great to see. Once again great all round performance by the Team. Players Player went to Molly and Bec. With 3 points to Kirsty and 1 point to Rachel, Jasmyn and Lilli. FO Central Coast Division IG A Round 7 - After being out of action for 4 weeks due to weather and byes the boys were keen to get back into it coming up against last years premiers in Wyong. In what was always going to be a tough encounter the boys started slow going down 10-0 early but fought there way back to be down by 6 points in the half time break. The second half saw the boys play some entertaining footy in the 2nd half scoring some great team tries. The boys were up 24-20 with minutes remaining but to Wyong’s credit they crossed close to full time to win 26-24. Much improved effort by the boys and with so many new players this year we are building along nicely. 3pts went to Pete Smith 2pts and Players Player to Dale Wilson who crossed for 3 tries and 1pt to Matt Dewar with Nick Corda picking up the Coaches Award. Woy Woy 18 Wyong 16 Players Player – Kieren Gallagher No Coward – Nathan Clarke OURIMBAH WYOMING Magpies NEWS The Metaland 1st Grade took on Toukley on Sunday looking for our first home win of 2015 and for 50 mins we looked on track; but costly errors at crucial times cost us. The attitude and effort is enormous just our execution at times lets us done badly. We couldn’t have got off to a better start scoring the opening 2 tries to lead 12 - nil after even time but lack of ball control allowed Toukley back into game and we went to the break 4 tries each and a 20 - 16 scoreline. We spoke at halftime about not giving them cheap ball and we’d put ourselves in a good position to win the game. We came out of sheds and failed to complete our first set and not long after Toukley scored to take the lead for the first time by 2. We just didn’t seem to recover from that and Toukley lifted the tempo of the game. Our boys tried hard and tackled themselves to a stand still but we struggled to keep them at bay as they got a roll on and we couldn’t go with a well-drilled Toukley side going down 40 – 20. The scoreline wasn’t a true reflection of the game as it was a lot closer than the score suggested. We just need more respect for the ball if we’re gonna compete with the top sides; once we do, we’ll be right. Players’ player and 3pts went to Mitch Fry who scored two tries and had a blinder at lock. 2pts to our skipper Chris Trembath who is an inspiration to his teammates with his work rate and big minutes each game. 1pt went to Corey Bayley who also had a big game on the right edge with some good defence. Coaches’ award went to Brock Taylor on his 1st grade debut and he didn’t let anyone down. Playing frontrow at 18 years of age - massive effort mate . Congrats to Tryone Johnson and Jack Akhurst on their respective 1st grade debuts for the club - well done boys . Also welcome to our new addition Hamilton Hughes on his first game for our club; he went well and welcome. Thanks to all the sponsors that came for our Sponsors’ Day. Sorry we couldn’t get the cash for you but thanks for your support it is appreciated . Well done to our opens team who continue to set the standard for the club with another win . Bad luck to Reggies you will turn the corner, too good a side not to. Keep listening to coach Harrison and results will follow . Finally a big congrats to our Ladies Oztag side on their First Win of the year - thoroughly deserved ladies its been coming for the last couple of weeks. Well done and look forward to watching you ladies win more games as the year progesses. Well done to our committee as well for organising our Sponsors’ Day on Sunday. it ran smoothly and everyone had a good day. cheers Marto The Davos Seafood Open Grade 24 Toukley 18 . Our first game at home this year and we couldn’t have started the game much better - going to a quick lead. Knowing Toukley would come back at us we had to dig deep in defence . Going to the break with a couple of boys in the sin bin we knew that we were in for a tough half of footy. Poor ball handing and lack of discipline saw the Hawks come back in the game and only 6 points in it . All the boys stood tall with no reserves for the last 20 minutes and happy to take the 2 points. Points 3- Hardy, Players’ player and 2 points - Barbs , 1 point - Mook . A quick shout out the the ladies for getting their first win for the season - well done girls! Good luck to the the rest of the teams this week. Up the magpies ! Club report A big thank you to all our loyal supporters, sponsors & the rugby league community who witnessed some great Rugby League action last Sunday at the beautiful Sohier Park where we hosted the Toukley Hawks. Not all the results on the day went our way on the day but there greatest highlight being Ourimbah’s ladies league tag side winning their first competition game for 2015. Other hightlights were Open Age grinding out a win against a gutsy Hawks side & Mitch Fry’s two tries in First Grade. Today we travel out to Erina Oval where we line up against the Erina Eagles and we as a Club are looking forward to this challenge in all grades. This year our proud Club is in the process of installing and completing a retractable fencing project around the main oval at Sohier Park. Over the coming week the first signs of construction will be taking place and will be completed before the end of the footy season. There are some wonderful & exciting opportunities for any businesses wishing to advertise on the retractable fence for 2016 and beyond with ten metre sections on offer for individual sponsorships. for now please see either Mick Trembath (0408 863 663) or Glenn Pudsey (0408 437 988) for any enquiries or information. CENTRAL COAST 4 X 4 WRECKERS First Grade: After a sluggish start the boys went on to record an impressive 40-20 victory against a committed Magpies outfit. We trailed by two tries early on, but had ourselves back in the contest at the break trailing 20-16. A special mention to the boys who backed up after UMINA BEACH R.L.F.C. playing for the Coast on Saturday, as well as some of our younger guys including Nugget, Ghaz, Peck and Thorney who were among our best. This weekend is another step up as we host one of the premiership favourites In Kincumber.
