MESSAGE
GAMES THAT WERE NOT PLAYED
DUE TO WET WEATHER
If this report has gone to print then weather
gods are finally shining upon us, and may
we hope it continues.
In what has been an interrupted start to the
competition it is no surprise to see Terrigal,
Kincumber and Toukley have had promising starts to the season. These club’s have
strong junior bases with excellent development programs and that, in turn, is having a
positive effect on the strong performances of
their senior clubs. It must be very satisfying
to see all the hard work come to fruition.
Congratulations to the players and staff
on their selection and appointments to the
Centurions representative teams. From
Under 14’s to Seniors we look forward to
them having an enjoyable and successful
2015 campaign. Good luck gentlemen.
It is with great sadness that I have learnt
of the serious illness of former representative player and Toukley Hawks junior Tony
Jamison. A magnificent ambassador for our
Division Tony has been involved in all facets
of the game and is always willing to give a
helping hand and pass on his knowledge to
all who ask. I wish him and his family all the

Razorbacks NEWS
Our last match which seems and age ago with all the crazy weather seen the
Razorbacks come up against a very powerful Erina Club. In the Under 19’s our boys
started the game well controlling the ball and defending well. But towards the back end
of the 1st half had to endure a mountain of defence and some tries quickly came Erina’s way. But in typical razorbacks style the boys kept their heads up and try
their best til the end.
Our 2nd Grade side was shown a lesson in ball control and fitness by a very enthusiastic and well drilled Erina
side. Erina ran all over the place to score a truck load of points. But I’m sure we’ll bounce back and put in a
much improved performance this week.
1st Grade was a great game that seen two very good sides come together in a tough battle that went down
to the wire with Erina being eventual winners in controversial circumstances 26 – 24. Best for the Razorbacks
was 5/8 Shane Beale who controlled the game well and his kicking in tough conditions was fantastic. 2 points
went to Mitchell Renwick for his
strong running game out wide and 1 point went to no nonsense work horse

Rd 3. Austeel Frames Reserve Grade: This week was a bit of a form reversal from last week, with the side only
completing 5 of the 16 sets in the first half and of the 5, 3 had terrible last tackle results. That being said it was
a bit of a disrupted week with the halves combinations from previous week not being available for selection.
6 all half time and a fair result.
Congratulations to Jake Hardman on his 1st call up for the year to Reserves from the 19’s and while struggling
a bit In an unfamiliar role at 7, he shone when moved back to the hooker role.
A better performance in the second half, with the boys getting over the line 4 times for 2 tries. Still plenty of
mistakes and wrong options taken, but as was spoken about after the game, it’s always good to get the points
when you don’t play at your best. Result 16 – 6 win.

Sharks NEWS
Another washed out round in a start stop season but two weeks ago the Sharks won the bookend games against Berkley Vale while the Panthers dominated the middle games in the Sharks return to Shark Park.
The Sharks Under Nineteens recorded a 58 - 6 win over the Panthers after leading 28- 0 at the break.
The Sharks crossed for five tries in either half with Kye Hopwood and Josh Starr both crossing for
doubles and Michael Jones adding nine conversions. Best for the Sharks and Players Player was Josh
Starr who ran and tackled strongly, the two points went to Kye Hopwood who gave great service to his
supports while the one point went to Jarrett Boland who played strongly. The Coaches Award went to
Scott Drinkwater who did a great job steering the side around the paddock.
The Sharks Open Age side was well beaten by the Panthers but with a few new players starting to turn
up will be a different proposition in a couple of weeks. Tom Spackman ran strongly when the Sharks had
possession and was a deserved winner of the Best and Fairest points and Players Player Award, the
two points went to Pat Moran who defended strongly while the one point went to Lincoln Stanley who
tried hard all game. The Coaches Award went to Ryan Merriman who played solidly in his first game of
Rugby League.
The Sharks Ladies League Tag side although beaten 38 - 0 by a strong Berkeley Vale side showed
plenty of fight in the first half to only trail 8 - 0 at the break but again lack of numbers told in the second
half as lack of reserves took its toll. Best for the Sharks was Paige Goodhand who ran strongly and
made some important tags, the two points went to Renee Maher who gave her all while the one point
went to Shannon Higgins who defended strongly. The Players Player went to new recruit Meaghan Higgins who despite being the youngest player on the field gave a gutsy performance. The Coaches Award
went to Brianna Hunter who continues to improve. Good effort ladies.
The Sharks Reserves led 14 - 6 at the break but conceded 24 unanswered points in the second half to
go down 30 - 14. The Sharks were disappointing in the second half making plenty of errors but will be
sure to improve when we can get back on the training paddock. Best for the Sharks was Ari Van Putten
who received the three points, Players Player award and Coaches Award with a sterling display, running
strongly and making plenty of meters, the two points went to Mitch Johnson who was safe at the back,
while the one point went to new recruit Jamie Clark who was solid around the rucks.

The Sharks first grade side again opened with a flourish scoring a point a minute as they leapt to an
18 - 0 lead but some quality defence kept the opposition to just a lone try in the eighty minutes, while a
late try had the Sharks 24 - 6 victors. In the Sharks best display of the year, Brendan Quigg received the
three points and Players Player award with an outstanding display in attack and defence, the two points
went to Chad Sharp who again led the side around the paddock, while the one point went to a workaholic
Shaun Sullivan. The Coaches Award was split between Josh Harman who crossed for a try and kicked
four from four and Darcy Gilchrist who stopped two certain tries with some great defence.

Panthers NEWS
No games last week due to the “big wet”.
Hope everyone got through it without too many dramas.
Magpies NEWS
The Metaland 1st Grade played our first home game of the year and we were all
set for a big game in front of our home crowd. But unfortunately due to lack of
respect for the footy and opposition we delivered a below par performance.
We completed 13 from 43 sets and showed no direction or composure with the footy.
In a positive I thought that we defended well to only go to the break at 4 all running into strong wind and a
poor completion rate. At half time we spoke about completing our sets and using the wind and we would
get home. However again we continued to hand the footy over to Umina and present the game to them on a
platter. We need to play more like a team than individually and we will keep working hard to achieve this .
3 points and players player went to Chris Trembath who had a massive game and tried his hardest to
inspire his teammates with an 80 minute non stop performance. 2 points went to little Chan who had
a great game at fullback and was a constant threat to Umina’s defence. 1 Point was shared between
Moey and Taylor Mildren who both again played well in attack, defence and continued their good form
thus far. Coaches award this week went to a 1st Grade debutant and Ourimbah junior Blake Cooper
who got the call up and didn’t let anyone down at hooker. He defended well in the middle and scored a
try to boot. Well done Coop.
Congrats also to Forto and Reserve Grade on their first win of the year, in a great team performance.
Wins like that will keep putting pressure on the 1st Grade boys.
Good luck to all teams this weekend.
Cheers, Marto

First Grade
The Panthers ventured to Terrigal for what promised to be an exciting clash with two sides that promise
so much for season 2015. Once again, our poor starts came to the fore and before we knew, we were 18
nil down and shell shocked. Struggling to complete our sets with a gale force wind behind us led to more
frustration and it was a stop start, scrappy affair. A late try after a classical raid to dashing winger Michael
Ferrington brought us back to 18 - 6 at half time. The second half proved a continuation of the first, with
poor ball control a feature of our play. The gusty wind was playing havoc with both teams and the kicking
games were astray. We started to gain some ascendancy and livewire Jarrod Hamer darted over from
dummy half but was ruled to have dropped the ball to our dismay. Terrigal scored another converted try
and eventually ran out victors 24 - 6. Best for the Panthers were the resilient Tane Tutaki, wholehearted
Steve Lyons and the skilful Dan York
Reserve Grade - Won 30 – 14. No other details available.
Ladies League Tag - With a 36-0 win against Terrigal, the game was one sided only in the score line.
After the previous weeks convincing win, we started the game painfully slow. It seemed like we expected
it to come easy. Terrigal defended well in the first half and we found it hard to make any meters up the
W
field. Once we finally spent some
time in the oppositions half, a deft kick from Claire Reed found a BerAM
B
keley Vale jersey in the corner toERAopen
our scoring. After a few select words from the coach at half time,
L
we started the second half with a lot more urgency in everything we did. Our halves directed play well, atR

tacking the line with speed
AG BY which opened up space for our outside backs with Sarah Dodds, Ange Jones
UE
and Isabelle Kelly making
plenty of meters in the second half. New fan favourite, Mel “Muzza” Murray
got the players player, with 3 points going to Emily Caton who was outstanding in the middle of the field.
2 Points went to Isabelle Kelly, who, after backing up from her first Ladies League game the night before
was
at herRLFC
attacking best. 1 point went to Ange Jones and Claire Reed, with the latter starting to show
TOUKLEY
some confidence in running the team around the park.
Opens - This week we took on Terrigal at Duffy’s road. During the week we spoke about things we
needed to improve on and I couldn’t have asked for a better response from the boys with a 72 point win.
Although the Terrigal side tried hard our boys took them on up the middle of the park with players in motion and options given to our ball players, We showed what we can play like when we don’t give easy

possession
R.L.F.C. to the opposition and finish our sets.
It’s hard to give points this week but the players player and 3 points went to Wade Chant who has made
the left side second row his position, 2 points went to Matt Dayman and Mitchell Evrard with dominating performances. 1 point went to Scott Ferguson who was talking from the back and also helping the
forwards with backing up and hit-ups
Under 19’s - A severe 58-6 loss to Terrigal, who were to classy in the halves and on the edges. A lack
of defensive technique really let us down.
Matt Bailey scoring from close range from one of the few opportunities we had on their line.
Best for the day were Matt Bailey with 3 points, Corey Allard was solid, coming up with great try saving
efforts similarly with Brent Hibberd, who earned the 2 and 1 point awards respectively.
Big changes to be made by coaching staff as this was an embarrassing performance I know we wouldn’t
want to repeat again or will again.

Bears NEWS
Round 2 - The side to travelled to Berkeley Vale last Sunday for the first game of the year
and with plenty of new players in the squad and limited training the last few weeks the guys
were keen for the match. The boys started well with newcomer Pete smith scoring with his f
irst touch to take us to a 6 nil lead. With a few classy touches by Rowen Doyle we went into the half
time break leading 18-6 . The boys fell away a little in the 2nd half but their defence at key stages was rock solid. The
game was iced when Cheesy ran 80m to score on the bell to give us a 24-14 win. Great win first up and with so many
new players we will only get better. 3pts went to Rowen Doyle who finished the day with a personal tally of 16pts. 2pts
and players player went to Pete Smith who led from the front all game. 1pt went to Matt Dewar who was busy out of
dummy half and tireless in defence. Coaches award went to Dave Thom who steered the side around well at half back
and had some good touches. Special mention to our captain Nick Spittles who suffered a compound fracture in his
thumb and left the field in the first few mins. We hope to see you back soon Spitts.
A big thank you to Junior Johnson and the Woy Woy staff who helped us with strapping and first aid on the weekend.
It is a pleasure to be associated with such a great Club in Woy Woy and hopefully it will be a successful year for both
of our clubs.
Round 3 - After a good win first up we hosted Toukley at home. The side was missing our Captain in Nick Spittles but
with such great depth in our squad this year we had the players to step up. We started well and went into the half time
break leading 10-4. The boys fell away a little in the 2nd half and with Toukley taking their chances the game ended in
a 14 all draw. Yet again out defence was spot on and couldn’t fault the guys commitment. 3pts went to Matt Dewar ,
2pts went to Tim Boyd while Craig Starr got the 1pt. Players Player was Nick Corda who was damaging every time he
touched the ball and Sam Corda finished up with the Coaches award after performing well at the back. Best of luck to
Jack Renouf and Rhys Doyle who are heading overseas to live. Both great clubman who will be sorely missed. Hopefully we bounce back with a win against Northern Lakes this week.
