Walk Day Schedule of Events
This is a rain or shine event

Directions
• Our NEW LOCATION is at Lancaster County Central Park
• If using GPS for directions, please use this address, or
the Lancaster County Central Park Swimming Pool for
directions:
1050 Rockford Road, Lancaster, PA 17602
• YOU MUST USE THE NORTHERN MOST ENTRANCE TO
THE PARK OFF OF CHESAPEAKE - THE STRAWBERRY
STREET ENTRANCE TO THE PARK (Take S Duke St. to
Chesapeake St., then turn onto Strawberry St. to cross
the bridge and enter the park).
• IMPORTANT - If approaching from the South Williamson Road will be closed to traffic because of the
walk, and you will not be able to get to the event space
via any of the park entrances off of Eshelman Mill Road
or Golf Road
Parking
• Parking is free, no parking pass needed.
• After entering the park via Strawberry St., continue
straight past Rockford Rd. (on your left) and the first
parking entrance (on your right)
• Turn right after the park office into the parking area. (See
enclosed map)
Check In (Registration)
• General Check In will be in the large tent in the paved
area of the event space.
• All Team Captains need to check in even if all money
has been turned in prior to Walk Day. Walkers on your
team do not need to each check in if they have given
their envelopes to you, or if they don’t have money to
turn in on walk day.
• Team Captains should collect all Walker Envelopes
(included in this mailing) for their team prior to check in,
and make sure they are filled out correctly.
• If you need additional Walker Collection Envelopes,
please contact the JDRF office.
• At Check In, Team Captains will:
• Turn in any oustanding donations.
• Pick up T-shirt vouchers for your team. You will
receive one (1) T-shirt voucher per $100 raised by
your team, up to the number of walkers on your
team. ONLY TEAM CAPTAINS may pick up T-Shirt
Vouchers
• There will be a separate V1P Check-In tent for Top 10
Teams. If you qualify as a top ten team, please go to
the Top Team V1P Check-In tent to check in your team.
V1Ps will be determined based on fundraising totals as of
5/13/15. Donations must be made online or turned into
the JDRF office by 5/13/15 to count towards top team.
T-Shirt Pick Up
Sugar Station
• 2015 JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes T-shirts are available
for Teams raising a minimum of $100.
• At Check-In Team Captains will receive 1 T-shirt
voucher for every $100 their team raises, up to the
number of walkers on their team.
• ONLY Team Captains only will pick up T-Shirt vouchers
to hand out to their walkers.
• Walkers will then go to the T-shirt pick up station and
exchange the voucher for a t-shirt.
• T-Shirts are NOT available for purchase. This is a JDRF
National policy.
• Sugar stations will be available with specific snacks
and drinks at the main event space and along the walk
route should anyone experience a low at the Walk.
Walk Route
• The Walk will step off promptly at 2:00 pm
• The Walk Route is 2 miles through Lancaster County
Central Park.
• The Walk Route is handicap and stroller accessible.
• We will begin lining up for the Walk at 1:40 pm.
Opening remarks will begin at 1:45 pm.
Fundraising
• Walkers can continue fundraising until June 30, 2015.
• The deadline for donations to qualify for JDRF National
Walk Prizes is June 17, 2015.
• IMPORTANT NOTE about Unconfirmed Donations:
• Unconfirmed donations are those you have
entered into your online participant center but
have not yet been received by JDRF.
• All unconfirmed donations will be removed from
your participant center the Monday after the
event. This includes donations brought in on
Walk Day.
• Once the donations are processed, they will be
added back into your participant center. Please
allow two weeks for processing.
Food/Drink
• Light snacks and drinks will be provided throughout
the event ( items may include: apples, bananas,
pretzels, chips, granola bars, water, gatorade)
• We encourage you to bring a picnic dinner to enjoy
with your family at the park after the Walk. BYOPB
(Bring Your Own Picnic Blanket!) The park has three
grills that will be available starting at 3:00 pm. No
alcohol or glass bottles please.
• Water and low-blood-sugar supplies will be available at
the rest stop along the Walk Route.
• If you have specific dietary restrictions, please plan to
bring snacks that work for you!
JDRF Merchandise Sales
• There will be a variety of JDRF merchandise available
for sale the day of the event.
• Cash and checks only please.
Entertainment
• A variety of vendors, music, and activities will be
available before and after the Walk.
• Field games such as frisbee golf, corn hole, hoola
hoops and much more

Dogs

$100 = Walk to Cure Diabetes T-shirt
$200 = Qualify for JDRF National Walk Prizes
The Top 10 Teams will be eligible for Top Team Check-In
Top Team Check in will be in a separate tent with
special perks! Avoid the crowds and get recognized
as a Top 10 Team!
The Top Team as of 5/13/15 will get to cut the ribbon
and lead off the walk! Donations must be made online or
received in the office by 5/13/15 to count.

The list of current team standings is on the back of the
event map. Send in your cash and check donations TODAY
so they count towards your total for top team honors!

Here are some easy things you can do to kick start or pump up your team fundraising!
Send Emails
• Sending emails to request a donation is quick, easy,
and walkers who do raise on average 38% more than
those who don’t.
• Don’t be afraid to send follow up emails! Most people
will put off donating with the first email. They want to
support you, but they need a reminder.
Use Facebook and Social Media
• Fundraising with facebook is also easy and effective
• In addition to posting on your wall, Send out a
Facebook message with a link to your page where
they can donate. Many people will miss your wall post
if it doesn’t show up in their newsfeed, and a personal
message is much more effective.
Matching Gifts
DOUBLE YOUR FUNDRAISING!
• Many employers offer matching gifts programs,
where they will donate the same amount that their
employees do to that organization
• Ask you employer, and ask your donors to ask their
employers, if they have a matching gift program. It’s
usually as easy as filling out a one page request form
and sending it in! BAM! Doubled donations!
