Arranging Your
Ceremony
The next step is to give notice of your
intentions by completing either marriage
notice forms (M10) or civil partnership notice
forms (CP10) These are available from any
registration office in Scotland or can be
downloaded from www.nrscotland.gov.uk.
We recommend that you submit these
approximately six to eight weeks before the
date of your ceremony (but not more than three
months or less than 28 days before the date of
your ceremony)

Prior
to your special day you will get the
chance to discuss with the Registrar your
choice of vows, readings, music etc. in order
to personalise your ceremony. At that time, we
will go through the events of the day with you,
fully explaining the marriage service. This also
gives you an opportunity to ask the Registrar
any questions you may have.
We are happy for couples to contact the
Registrar with any enquiries regarding the
completion of this documentation. Please note
your ceremony cannot go ahead if this legal
requirement is not met. Once you have made a
decision on when and where to get married or
enter into a civil partnership you should contact
the registrar in the area where your ceremony
is to take place as early as possible. This is
particularly important in some of the more
popular locations and at certain times of the year.
In addition to registrars own venues there is
the option for couples to have their ceremony
in a place of their own choosing, as long as the
venue is not a current place of religious
worship. Please contact the Registrar or email
[email protected]
On the day itself the Registrar conducting
your ceremony will arrive in ample time to
welcome you and your guests. The Registrar
will also have brought with him/her the
marriage schedule which you sign on the day.
After the ceremony the Registrar will take
your signed marriage schedule and return it to
the Registration Office so your marriage can
be registered and your certificate sent to you.
The Marriage and Civil Partnership
(Scotland) Act 2014 enables same sex
couples to enter into a marriage.

Civil Partnership
Ceremonies
Although there is no legal requirement to hold
a civil partnership ceremony, many
couples prefer to do so. Civil partnership
ceremonies in Fife can be held in Registrars
own venues, or in a place of your own
choosing, at the discretion of the Registrar.
Civil partnership ceremonies are a wonderful
way to mark this special life event, celebrating
with family and friends.
Your ceremony can be personalised by
choosing your own readings, poetry and
declarations, and by having your choice of
music. Before the day itself, the Registrar will
go over everything with you, fully explaining
the order of service.
On the day, the Registrar conducting your

Naming ceremonies, which can be held in a
place of your own choosing (non religious),
are a unique way of welcoming a new baby or
child into your family. They give you, family
and friends a chance to celebrate this happy
occasion.
Naming ceremonies give parents, family and
friends the opportunity to make a commitment
to the new baby/child by making declarations
and promises, and although this ceremony has
no legal status, each ceremony is special and a
time to be treasured.

within the City Chambers, a magnificent 19th
century building featuring French gothic
architecture and elaborate decorative carvings.
This idyllic setting boasts welcoming log fires,
spacious landings and its ornate staircase leads
to various rooms to suit your needs for your
special day. The City Chambers, closely
situated to The Abbey and Pittencrieff Park is
located within the historic and cultural heart of
Dunfermline.
Kirkcaldy is one of Scotland’s most ancient
burghs, known as the “Lang Toun” (Scots
for “long town” due to the length of its main
street), its history stretches back to before the
11th century.
Civil
ceremonies in Kirkcaldy are held in
Town House, Kirkcaldy”. This beautiful
historic building is located close to both bus
and train stations.
Kirkcaldy has two rooms used for civil ceremonies, a recently refurbished ceremonies
suite which is lovely and bright, ornate and
incredibly beautiful. The other being the much
larger “Council Chambers” which is much
more traditional in style and very grand.
Exquisite floral arrangements further enhance

Glenrothes, a new town lies just off the A92
The Royal Burgh of Cupar in the heart of Fife
midway between Edinburgh and Dundee. The
surrounding villages have many historical
connections, with Falkland perhaps, being the
most famous because of its association with
the Stuart dynasty. The area around
Glenrothes boasts numerous hotels and
eateries which cater for wedding parties,
receptions and overnight stays.

The beautiful historical town of St Andrews,

Cowdenbeath
Acknowledgements
Cowdenbeath is a former mining town in the
Ad-Vise and Fife Registration Service
west of Fife and is situated approximately 15
minutes from the Forth Road Bridge and is
easily accessible. Originally a small
agricultural settlement, Cowdenbeath
expanded rapidly with the development of the
West Fife iron and coal fields between 1850
and 1914. Cowdenbeath today, is known for
its many leisure and recreational outdoor
activities, and its rural landscape is picturesque.
The northern boundary of Cowdenbeath
merges into the beautiful Lochore Meadows
Country Park.
The Burgh Chambers, accommodating
approximately 46 guests is situated on the first
floor of the Town House in Cowdenbeath. It’s
an old building with many beautiful
characteristics, not to mention a stunning
ornate stained-glass window. The room itself is
lovely. It is bright and spacious, and is
immaculately decorated with rich colours,
making it a perfect place for your perfect day.

Make your wedding ceremony extra special and have one of our
Trained Owls deliver your rings down the aisle. The Owls usually
fly in to either the Best Man or the Groom, but these friendly hand
reared birds will fly to children of all ages. The handover of the
rings is straight forward as the help of a professional falconer will
be on hand and training will be given prior to the ring delivery.
Falconry displays at weddings are becoming
more popular all time. A flying show consisting
of 4-5 birds of prey can keep your guests
entertained for around 2 hours, whether it's so
you can relax and enjoy having your wedding
photographs taken and not worry about your
guests or if your venue has to setup in between your reception and meal,
even something to keep the children amused as the adults have the meal.
The display is exciting and educational the birds are happy to fly in and
be handled by your guests giving you some unforgettable photographs of
your guests with the birds. Our flying displays are also popular at birthday
parties and other special occasions.
