We will be working to remove invasive privet in and around the wetlands in order to encourage native plants restoration. Insects in the Garden: Henning von Schmeling, 1 – 2:30pm: Whether we love or fear them, play with or run from them, insects are an essential part of the garden. Join Bug Man Henning von Schmeling for a fascinating workshop which focuses on the beautiful and oft-misunderstood world of insects, why they deserve respect, and how to attract them to your gardens. Indoor presentation is followed by a trip out on a bug collecting brigade unlike anything you’ve experienced before! Magnifying glasses encouraged! Ages 10+ Hypertufa Container Creation with Lee Culver, Cobb County Master Gardener and CNC Volunteer Friday, April 3; 3 – 7pm HyperWHAT? Lightweight and durable, Hypertufa containers are fun to make from a mixture of peatmoss, perlite, and cement. The end result is a unique piece reminiscent of English stone troughs from another era. Come take a guided hike with one of CNC’s naturalist and get an up-close and personal experience with one of CNC’s own rehabilitated animals. Dig down and you’ll find layers of nutrients and minerals that help support life. Our soil station will help you discover some secrets of soil below the surface.
