Dirt Cups Make your own edible dirt cup in this tasty program in honor of Earth and TFFFN: Brain Time Visitors will learn about our Brain Time programs for babies, toddlers, and preschoolers while interacting with age-appropriate toys and materials. This program is designed to teach parents about the importance of a child's early experiences to the wiring of his or her brain in a fun, informal learning setting where play is emphasized. We'll squish and squeeze some mud, make some mud pies, and so much more! Come discover scientific concepts in this hands-on class to explore measuring, light, magnetism and more! A professional scientist will lead the class through activities to spark a passion for scientific discovery. Brain Time This program emphasizes simple but critical messages about early brain development . Included are stories, songs, rhymes, and one-on-one parent/child playtime with brain-based learning toys and books. This program is also designed to teach parents about the importance of a child’s early experiences to the wiring of his or her brain in a fun, informal learning setting where play is emphasized. Parent/Caregiver is required to attend with child. This month we will enjoy water play in all of our Brain Time programs. Water play is a great sensory and exploratory experience for your child, especially when we use basters, scoops, and more to explore water! Brain Time for Babies (Ages birth-18 months) Brain Time for Toddlers (Ages 18 months-3 years) Brain Time for Preschoolers (Ages 3-5 years) Laying the Foundation for Literacy One of Southwest Human Development’s literacy experts will provide parents an overview of brain development and brain anatomy, and introduce parents to important child developmental milestones. Parents will also learn how to read and with their children at varying ages. This workshop is designed for children ages birth to five plus a parent/caregiver and includes story time, an art activity, singing and dancing. Kids Yoga Kids gain improved focus, balance, breath, strength & confidence through yoga, as they practice with music, stories, obstacle courses, partner poses and creative play. Children ages 4-10. Toddler and Parent Yoga Introduce your young child to the countless benefits of yoga in this specially designed class that uses games, music, stories and play to explore postures, balance and breath. Children will have a blast designing and decorating their very own AIRmazing airplane made out of craft sticks and clothespins. Junior League of Phoenix Presents: R.O.C.K.E.T.S. Join the Junior League of Phoenix R.O.C.K.E.T.S. program for some hands-on science learning! Seed Planting! Hear the story, Fran's Flower, to learn more about how plants grow. You may then explore ecosystems and photosynthesis while planting seeds to take home! The following programs are PAID programs requiring online registration. Music Together Presents: Spring “Triangles” Join Music Together’s Spring “TRIANGLE” semester for 10 weeks of singing, dancing, drumming and instrument play with your child while supporting them on their path towards basic music competence. This session includes 26 new songs and chants: we’ll be skipping across the room with the traditional “Skip to My Lou”, shaking our eggs and barking the blues to “Old Blue”, and playing drums with “Maria Isabel” a lively Spanish folksong. Each enrolled family receives TWO copies of the “Triangle” CD with a digital download option, a beautifully illustrated song book, and “Music and Your Child” booklet/DVD (for new families) are included with tuition. Phoenix Children's Hospital Presents: My Plate There are five major components that make up a proper meal plate: fruits, vegetables, proteins, grains and dairy. This lesson covers how to build a healthy plate and why it is important. Remember ½ fruits and vegetables, ¼ protein and ¼ grain each and every time! There will be interactive activities and an art project that will help kids remember what their plates should look like. Storytime with Phoenix Public Library Share books, stories, songs, rhymes, and music in a fun interactive program that builds early literacy skills.
