Sparkling City Rambler’s 2013 Officers
The Sparkling City Ramblers (SCR) met with the Bexar
Ramblers on December 5 - 9, 2012 at the Parkview
Riverside RV Park in Concan, Texas.
The 2013 SCR Officers are Carl Hallada as President,
Norris Garcia as Vice President, Maggie Braden as
Secretary, Ada Tobin as Treasurer, Lorraine Gangai as
Sunshine Committee. Hardy Cruze as Sheriff, and Bob
Braden as Event Coordinator. The Directors include Ken
Austin, L. D. Osborn, Hardy Cruze, and Jim Dale.
W ednesday we gathered and visited. That evening we
dined at the Mill Creek Café in Leaky, Texas.
Thursday morning we enjoyed crafts, including Sid
Aaron’s Chip Carving Christmas Ornaments and Pat
Cruze’s Ladies Knitted Sashay Scarf. A delicious home
cooked Christmas Dinner was prepared by the wagon
masters.
A big T ha nk You to the Wagon Masters for a Very
Merry December Campout.
Friday morning, breakfast tacos were prepared and
served by the Wagon Masters. We continued to work on
our crafts and played games.
Saturday, we held the SCR Business Meeting, enjoyed
Bean Soup served by the wagon masters. That evening we
enjoyed heavy hors d’oeuvres. Mary Loflin installed the
2012 SCR Officers. Gale Helweg and Beverly Biemer
held a Ugly Christmas Ornament Exchange and Contest.
Norris and Evelyn Garcia won the contest with the
Ugliest Ornament from L. D. & Judy Osborn. Gale
Helweg and Judy Mayo played Christmas Music for our
enjoyment.
Sunday devotional was led by Bobby Allen and musical
accompaniment by Gale Helweg and Judy Mayo. We give
thanks to them for their inspiration and Christmas
Cheer. We wished everyone a Merry Christmas and a
Happy New Year. Travel safe and may God Bless.

DECEMBER, 2012 MEETING MINUTES
The Sparkling City Ramblers (SCR) met at Parkview
Riverside RV Park in Concan, Texas on December 8,
2012 There were 13 SCR and 2 Bexar Rambler rigs at
this campout. Ken Austin called the meeting to order
and led the Pledge of Allegiance. Darrell Lawless
provided the invocation.
ROLL:
The following members were present: Sid Aaron & Judy
Mayo, Ken & Kim Austin, Leonard & Beverly Biemer, Bob
& Maggie Braden, Hardy & Pat Cruze, Jim & Linda Dale,
Norris & Evelyn Garcia, Carl & Elaine Hallada, Al & Gale
Helweg, Darrell & MaryJo Lawless, Dave & Mary Loflin,
L.D. & Judy Osborn, and Jerry & Ada Tobin.
MINUTES OF THE LAST M EETING:
Ken Austin asked for comments or corrections to the
November 2012 Meeting Minutes. There were no
comments or corrections. A motion to approve the
November 2012 Meeting Minutes as written was made by
Gale Helweg, seconded by L.D. Osborn and passed.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Gale Helweg announced that the Wagon Masters
provided four meals for the December Campout. A fee of
$25 per couple was due. M ary Jo Lawless suggested
that the meal fees could be covered by the SCR Fund.
After some discussion, a motion to charge the SCR Fund
a $25 meal fee at the December Campout, for each SCR
couple present and the guests was made by Mary Jo
Lawless, seconded by Elaine Hallada and passed.
TREASURERS REPORT:
Ada Tobin reported SCR currently has a total of
$1148.53 as of November 2012. The SCR Club Dues of
$10 per couple is now due. Please send a check in the
amount of $10, made out to Sparkling City Ramblers,
Chapter 104 and report the current date of your HRRVC
Membership to Ada Tobin. Ken Austin assigned Mary
Loflin and Darrell Lawless to audit the Sparkling City
Ramblers account.
Ken Austin thanked all those who contributed to the SCR
December Campout, including;

CORRESPONDENCE:
Jan Reynolds emailed SCR about her husband. Bill
Reynolds has Follicular Lymphoma, Grade 2 Stage 4 and
will receive aggressive chemotherapy treatments. Our
thoughts and prayers are with them both.
As there was no further business, a motion to adjourn
the SCR Meeting was made by Sid Aaron, seconded by
Carl Hallada and passed. Ken Austin pronounced the
meeting adjourned. Respectfully submitted, Maggie

COMMITTEE REPORT:
There were no committee reports.
OLD BUSINESS: Elaine Hallada thanked SCR for their
participation and donation for the Wounded Warriors
Project.
NEW BUSINESS:
Ken Austin announced that the Wagon Master Sign-up
Sheet is available for the 2013 Campouts and encouraged
everyone to sign up. Ken also announced the following:

Strawberry Pretzel Salad

Servings: 8 to 10 servings
Prep Time: 30 min
Cook Time: 10 min
Ingredients
1
8-ounce can crushed pineapple
2 cup boiling water
2
10-ounce pkgs
frozen strawberries
2
3-ounce pkgs strawberry
gelatin dessert mix
1
8-ounce container Cool Whip
3/4 cup sugar
1 8-ounce pkg cream cheese
3 Tbl sugar
3/4 cup melted butter
2 cup crushed pretzels
Directions
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
For the crust, mix the pretzels, butter, and 3
tablespoons of sugar. Press this mixture into a
9x13-inch pan and bake for 7 minutes. Set aside and
allow to cool.
In a mixing bowl, beat together the cream cheese and
3/4 cup of sugar. Fold in the Cool Whip, and spread
over the cooled crust. Refrigerate until well chilled.
