POSITION SUMMARY
Design, implement, troubleshoot, analyze and maintain the hardware and software
Infrastructure of internal and external customer environments; including network connectivity
and utilization, Windows server administration, virtualization, performance tuning, backup and
restore. Assist in programming needs for various software platforms and assists Program
Analysts as needed. Identifies, researches, and resolves technical problems. Familiar with a
variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to
plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complicated tasks, and provide support for
escalated trouble tickets. Primary focus is to insure that hardware and software compatibilities
are maintained while assisting other department engineers in a comprehensive fashion.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. A System Engineer provides investigation, diagnostic testing and repair of hardware,
software, and infrastructure systems and helps insure enterprise compatibility.
2. Responsible for the planning and engineering of an organization's systems
infrastructure. Includes the implementation and design of hardware and software.
3. Monitor the performance of systems. Troubleshoot and resolve computer and
telephony related issues.
4. Maintain software applications, operating systems, and regular maintenance of
software platforms.
5. Assist in virtualization and containerization (e.g., VMware, Virtual Box).
6. Provide a comprehensive approach to maintaining hardware and software systems by
working closely with software programmers and infrastructure specialists.
7. Provide quality service that continuously improves, that meets or exceeds public
expectations, and that ensures all are treated with courtesy, dignity and respect.

KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS and ABILITIES
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty
satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or
ability required. Alternative qualifications may be substituted if sufficient to perform the

1. Three years of experience administering Active Directory in a Windows Server 2003 or
later environment.
2. Must have knowledge/understanding of at least 4 of the following: wide area networks,
Windows Server administration, Windows desktop and server patching best practices,
VoIP, audio/video recording equipment, video conferencing equipment.
3. Excellent network troubleshooting skills.
4. Ability to organize and prioritize duties.
5. Good written and verbal communication skills.
6. Technical, analytical and interpersonal skills required.
7. Knowledge of programming languages and methodologies.
8. Experience with SQL scripting.
9. Experience with automation software.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field from an
accredited four year college, university, or vocational school is required, or six years of full-time
paid experience in IT/IS.
