Zero Waste Ambassador – Oakland, CA

Cascadia Consulting Group develops and implements innovative solutions to today’s environmental
challenges. Cascadia is hiring for a Zero Waste Ambassador to fill a part-time, temporary outreach
position from May-December 2015. The Ambassador will work on one of Cascadia’s outreach campaigns
with a team to help educate targeted audiences within the Oakland area about composting. Cascadia is
hiring qualified individuals for the following Ambassador role with associated responsibilities and
schedules:
Door-to-Door Outreach Ambassador
 Estimated start date: May 27, 2015
 Schedule: Weekdays and occasional weekends, between 11 AM – 7 PM
 Key Responsibilities: customer service, outreach, and reporting
Work will include:
 Conducting door-to-door outreach to engage and support Oakland residents of multifamily properties in the
setup and correct usage of new composting collection services
 Providing excellent customer service to multifamily property owners, managers and residents
 Using online data management and survey tools to manage and report on data collected during outreach
 Other work, as needed
This temporary position will start in mid-May and likely go through December 2015. Cascadia will compensate
Ambassadors with an hourly wage of $17 to $22/hour, dependent on experience.
The ideal candidate will:
● Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both in person and on the phone
● Have bilingual language capabilities in Mandarin and/or Cantonese
● Demonstrate capabilities in Microsoft Excel and Word
● Demonstrate ability to thrive in a flexible, fast-paced environment
● Have initiative, energy, creativity, and a sense of humor
● Live in Oakland, CA
Other highly desirable skills:
● Ability to work outdoors, occasionally in inclement weather
● Knowledge of solid waste, composting and/or recycling
● Access to a personal vehicle
