She says she loves finding old and forgotten pieces of furniture and turning them into treasured items. Working with quality paints and waxes and a range of techniques she creates vintage-inspired pieces with soul. No two are the same; from chests of drawers and bedside tables, to plate racks and garden signs, there is always something new. Megan’s next project is a quirky little cupboard that is going to get a touch of Morocco. She sells on eBay and through word of mouth, or as commissions. Some buyers are very local, but some pieces have gone as far as the Isle of Wight and Pimlico. For more information visit on Facebook: www.facebook. com/lovefromowl . are you crafty? crafty? Check out the Facebook, website and Twitter pages of Always Keepsakes and Castings for more information. JANE Kearns has been creating beautiful jewellery for a number of years now and has a solid base of returning customers, who buy from her collection or have something made specially. She works mainly with silver, sometimes using gold or semi-precious stones as features. Her designs range from the big and bold to the more intricate and elaborate, but they all take the particular properties of the metal as their startingpoint – from the contours of her wide, planished (smooth) silver cuffs, through the twiglike curves and twists of her “Bird’s Nest” rings to the almost molten appearance of the “Elements” range. Many designs are one-offs and pendants, rings and bangles can also be personalised for the customer. Jane will have a stall at the Arts and Craft Tent at Exeter Festival of Food and Drink on Friday, April 25 and at Exeter Craft Fair on Cathedral Green, July 18 and 19. For more information check the website: www.madebyhandonline.com for her latest designs.
