 … and A patina package in a pear tree! 
Zitron Patina is a brand new single
ply yarn made with a lovely blend of
merino wool (55%) and a generous
dose of rayon (45%). Rayon is a plant
fiber that renders garments lightweight and resilient. It also imparts a
silk-like gleam and a soft drape. Perfect for garments and elegant accessories, Patina is available in 5 ball kits
and 24 elegant colours. We’ve put 12
kits in each RCY location for you to
pick from.
Each yarn kit can be paired up with
one of three suggested patterns
from our new Churchmouse Yarns
and Tea Collection: the Diagonal
Lace Wrap, the Smocked Lace
Wrap or Shrug and/or the Welted
Infinity Loop (and Welted Fingerless Gloves).

 … 5 round ornament balls! 
Decorate the tree with some handmade ornaments. They're fun to make and
they use up little bits of leftover yarn. Not only will you have unbreakable ornaments, but each one will remind you of a project too!
Come in to the store and pick up a pattern and check out our Holiday Ornament Tins. These are see through cans with nine mini balls of yarn and bits
o’glitz that you can use to make ornaments. When you’re done, you’ll have a
great storage container for your handmade ornaments.
You can order a kit online, too. We have three very special online packages for you to choose from:

Drops Big Delight from Garnstudio
A comfortable and super soft
single stranded yarn, in beautiful colours!
Drops Big Delight is the
“big sister” to Drops Delight, spun the same way, but
in 100% wool. Big Delight is
also thicker and comes in
skeins of 100g. The multi
coloured "magic print" with
long colour repetitions creates unique patterns and exciting colour combina-
tions. It features smooth transitions with small
thickness variations, in a nice handspun texture. A delightful yarn that inspires creativity
and is ideal for felting.
There are a number of free patterns available
on the Drops website (see link
below) but we’re intrigued with
the idea of felting it and we’re in
the process of trying it out in our
in-house design for the RCY
Fuzzy Foot Socks.
Did you know? Garnstudio offers free patterns for their lovely yarns. You’ll find patterns

Fleece Artist Sea Wool
Fleece Artist Sea Wool… 350 metres of
hand-dyed heaven!
Sea Wool is a wonderfully soft combination
of 70% merino wool and 30% seacell (a
fibre made from seaweed) and we have it
in 8 beautiful “semi-solid” colourways.
Each 350m/112g is hand dyed in Mineville,
Nova Scotia by Fleece Artist and it’s machine washable. This beautiful yarn is often
featured in designs by Ilga Leja (also from
Nova Scotia). Barb used Sea Wool to make
a Manon shawl and you can, too. We have
several suggestions for patterns to use with
this yarn (see page 3).

December workshops
December is a busy month and a great time to take a
“holiday” workshop. We have some excellent
workshops that we only run once a year and you
shouldn’t miss out on them.
Learn an “afterthought” heel and how to knit fair isle
style in Cynthia’s Christmas Stocking workshop.
You’ll also change colours and get a Kitchener Stitch
lesson.
Learn to knit in the round, change colours, read a
chart and make your own designs in the Christmas
Ornament Balls workshop.
Get knitting in the round on both a circular and double pointed needles in the Felted Tea Cozy workshop. Try the new Drops Big Delight for a selfstriping, amazing tea cozy.
Want to make socks? Quick socks? Try our Felted
Christmas Slippers and get a sock lesson as well as
learn how to felt. These slippers are really big
socks and are knit in the round on large double
pointed needles.
We have a Crochet Crash Course for those who
want to get “hooked”.
Our January workshops have been posted as well and
we’ll be getting February up and running soon.
At home for the holidays
We’d like to take a minute to say thank you to all
of our friends (if you’re reading this, you’re on our
friends list!) This has been a big year for River
City Yarns. We had a big move from Edmonton’s
north-central neighbourhood to our new digs on
the Westside. We’re so happy that you’ve made a
trip out to see our new store and pleased that we
were able to host so many people during our
grand opening celebration and during Nicky Epstein’s visit and workshops.
Our Southside location has been growing too! We
love to see you in the store and we’re always happy
to welcome newcomers.
River City Yarns West and South will be open for
shopping, workshops and Secret Santa help every
day in December right up to Sunday, December 23.
We’ll be closed (and at home enjoying our families) on December 24, 25 and 26. We’ll also be
closed on New Year’s Day, January 1st. We look
forward to seeing you soon.
