IMPORTANT NOTICES
GOOD LUCK: We would like to wish our Grade 6 and 7 pupils all the best of luck for the
exams which starts next week. We trust that you have started with your studies and we
know that you will do very well. Keep calm, relax and study hard. We believe in you!!
Coffee Club: On that note, please join us for a very special Coffee Club this Thursday,
28 May at 08:00 in the Auditorium as Mrs Heather Perry will address the topic “Stress and
Anxiety during Exam time.” Remember to book your seat with Liz at Reception and make sure
to join us as she shares a few tips and pointers on how to support and calm your child as the
nerves creep up on them when the pressure mounts during exam time.
Tekkie Tax Day: On Friday, 29 May, we will be showing
our support for the CHOC Organisation by wearing our
tekkies to school on Tekkie Tax Day! The official
Tekkie Tax stickers are available at R10 each from
Mrs Stark and we ask that each child purchase a sticker
and wear their tekkies on Friday.
Be Our Guest: Tickets for the “Be Our Guest” MAD
Club Production for 8 and 9 June is still on sale from
Chantelle’s office at R40 each. Show your support to
our Grade 4 and 5 MAD Club pupils. This show is utterly entertaining and you will leave here
with a massive smile on your face and in your heart!
Technology Project: Mr Munroe would like to ask parents to collect the following recycled
materials for a section in class about leaving a carbon footprint: Old 5 litre water bottles;
unused wooden pallets; old plant pots that are unused that will be “upcycled”; toilet rolls.
Pupils are asked to please leave the items outside Mr Munroe’s classroom in the mornings or
after school.
Tennis: A reminder to all team tennis players from Grade 3 - 5 that tennis starts this week
Wednesday at 13:45 for an hour after school. For any further details, please contact
Mrs Joyce.
Touch of Africa Book Collection: Please remember to send any unwanted books cluttering
your bookshelves to Mrs Roberts in the Media Centre, so that we may donate them to “Touch
Africa” for schools that are less fortunate.

Performer at the finals of the National Eisteddfod’s Young Awards,
across all disciplines (Drama, Dance, Music etc.) on 16 May.
Crawford Prep Lonehill has the honour of hosting a concert
featuring this little protégé on Saturday 30 May, in performance
with the Rand Symphony Orchestra.
Another ex-pupil of Crawford Prep Lonehill, Neo Motsatse, who is
now being home schooled in order to focus on her violin, was the
overall gold medal winner along with her duet partner, Althea
Steynberg (recorder) and their accompanist on accordion,
Mr Sergio Zampolli (Mrs Ackermann from our school’s Music
Department’s husband).
RANDBURG SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA
We will be hosting a very special concert on Saturday, 30 May.
It is a Youth Concert, giving a number of talented young musicians the opportunity to perform
with the Randburg Symphony Orchestra. One of the young performers is a Grade 4 pupil from
our school: Malan du Plessis.
The concert will be held on our campus, in the School Hall. The starting time is 15:30 and it will
finish around 17:30. The entry fee is R 50.00 per person and the tickets will be available at
the door.
We are very excited about this concert, as it will be a first in our school’s history.

all instrumentalists in the entire Festival, and Maria Varghese was awarded the trophy for the
best performance on digital keyboard in the entire Festival.
Congratulations to this musical Dream Team!!
CAF PUBLIC SPEAKING
Public Speakers have been busy this trimester. On Monday 18 May thirteen pupils from Grade 7
took part in the first leg of the Crawford Academy Festival for Public Speaking held at Crawford
Sandton. These evenings are designed to provide a platform for aspiring speakers to showcase
their skills.
Two sections were entered: Impromptu Public Speaking and Prepared Speeches. The Prepared
speeches will be given on 25 and 26 May.
The Impromptu section gives competitors ten minutes to prepare. This year the adjudicator,
Mrs Romy Levin, gave improvised topics including, Beliefs, Achievements, Buried Treasure,
Brands, Mirrors, and Failure leads to success. The evening included speeches by cell-phone light
as load-shedding struck Sandton.
In spite of that, we achieved great results. Thank you, Grade 7s, for doing us proud.
The results were:
Gold: (80% - 89%)
Daniel de Jager and Michaela Lawrence
Honours: (90% - 95%)
Daniel Hermetz, Siyalini Naidoo, Gemma Rushton and Kyle Smith
Prestige: (95% - 100%)
Alyssa Getuli, Hannah Henry and Sanhye Munu
