MEET OUR CEO Matthew Masciangelo is the CEO and lead designer of Canada’s leading custom clothier, Masciangelo Design Inc. Previously, Matthew served as President of Lou Myles, where he began his career as an apprentice diligently acquiring the skills and extensive knowledge in the sartorial art of custom tailoring. Matthew’s hands-on-training under the rigorous tutelage of Mr. Myles, a world renowned master tailor, who has made clothes for individuals such as Muhammad Ali, Frank Sinatra, and Lee Lacocca, has enabled Matthew to perfect the technique of exquisite fittings through specific individualized measurements. Matthew also received mentoring by a number of other great master tailors including Manuel Martinez and Franco Guccione, who took Matthew under their wing and taught him the critical aspects of the trade, such as garment construction, pattern making, blue pencil, and styling. Matthew is a personal custom tailor and designer for clients who include many of Canada’s top CEOs, executives, and highly regarded individuals. OUR DISTINCTION FABRIC FIT We search the world for the finest fabrics. All of our fabrics are handpicked to ensure the highest level of taste, durability, and uniqueness. We work with the best mills and 100-year old workshops in Italy and England to provide a breathtaking selection of fabrics, in a very limited yardage, which creates originality and exclusivity for our clientele. Depending on a client's profession, different looks, styles, and fabrics are possible. Matching the correct fabric with a personality requires the knowledge of an expert. Our goal has always been to flatter the human body. We accomplish this by using a series of special measuring techniques that are rarely used by tailors today. We use a try-on garment to identify proper fit, balance; everything from a low shoulder or hip to an erect or stooping body posture are taken into account to create the ultimate fit! Our goal is to even out these flaws and make an individual appear as if they have a symmetrical silhouette. For this reason, we are and have been the most frequent choice among many individuals of excellence. Majority of tailors on the market today just use a tape-measure which takes the circumference and tends to create a boxier look. For example, a person may be a smaller size in the front, let’s say a 42, but they may be a different size in the back, a 44. Most tailors or salesmen would give a 44 all around, but then the shoulders would be too wide and the breast would be too big! This results in a poor fit. The single most important feature that separates a great suit from others, is its silhouette. When you put on our hand tailored suit, it automatically transforms your body into the perfect symmetrical build. A full horsehair canvas is hand-basted into each of our jackets providing added definition, softness, and comfort, while greatly increasing the lifespan. With the passage of time, the suit literally grows to fit even better as it molds itself to the body. Most off-the-rack suits are glued (“fused”) together which causes them to bubble and look unnatural. These suits are mass-produced by machines and made to fit everyone, so you will never get the proper shoulder width, coat length, and body fit that you deserve. People who have a good figure assume that custom is just for people with a not-so-good one or that custom takes too much time, and is too costly. Not true! Custom is for everyone. After our meeting, we sit down with a team of master craftsmen to develop your paper pattern and begin to visualize your new look. Next, the garment is prepared for a “try-on” fitting. At the fitting, the necessary adjustments are applied to your pattern and then the garment is finished and hand-delivered to your doorstep or office. We also store your pattern on file to make your future orders convenient, quick, and effortless.
