Cromford Mills is a Grade I listed complex of cotton mill buildings which form a key location in the UNESCO inscribed Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site. It was here that Sir Richard Arkwright changed the world with the development of the Factory System. Today the site is owned and managed by the Arkwright Society, a charitable building preservation trust, and is home to a bustling community of businesses. The Cromford Mill Conference Centre team specialise in creating conferences and meetings with a real difference. Accessed only by stairs, the rooms provide a spacious and professional environment for meetings and conferences, large or small. There are two large function rooms, Winster and Riber plus a smaller break out room, Lea, which is ideal for tutorials or small seminar groups. The Riber Room can accommodate 36 boardroom style, 60 theatre and 24 classroom. Winster, our largest room, holds 40 boardroom, 80 theatre style and 30 classroom. Lea will hold up to 10 people boardroom style. A flat screen PC compatible television, screen, and flipcharts are available free of charge. Both floors have toilet facilities; however only the ground floor has wheelchair access. Each room can be furnished to suit your requirements. Both rooms can comfortably seat 25 people boardroom style, 70 theatre and 24 classroom. A laptop and a projector can be hired for a small fee: please book these in advance. Screen, and flipcharts are provided free of charge. The Gothic Warehouse is particularly popular as a venue for weddings and family parties. Please notify us if you are still attending but there are changes in the numbers attending from your group, whatever activity you are undertaking, no later than 3 days in advance of your visit. This will enable us to adjust the room setting, number of staff required or food orders in advance at no extra charge to you. Any changes must be given in writing, preferably by email. Provisional bookings will be held for a maximum of 7 days. Any bookings not confirmed within 7 days will be released without notice. All bookings are deemed as provisional until a signed booking agreement has been received. Confirmation of Booking Please sign the Booking Agreement for the service you require and return to Cromford Mills within 7 days. You may be required to complete more than one Booking Agreement if you are using multiple services, for example, if you wish to hire a room and order buffet refreshments. Cancellations If you need to cancel a booking please do so with as much notice as possible. Please note there will be no charge for cancellations made at least 2 full weeks in advance of the original bookings. Cancellations after that time will be charged at 50% of the original booking fee. No shows will be charged 100% of the original booking fee. All cancellations must be made in writing, preferably by email. Visiting Cromford Mills Emergency Procedures Emergency procedures will be explained on your arrival. Emergency information sheets are available in each room and qualified first aiders are available at all times on site. Please do not hesitate to contact us if we can be of any further assistance prior to your visit. Catering As the site is fully licenced for the sale of alcohol and extensive catering menus are available, we cannot allow outside caterers under any circumstances. Damages/Behaviour The group leader must notify Reception Services of any breakages or damage to the buildings, fixtures or fittings before leaving the site. If such damage or breakage is deemed by the Arkwright Society to be due to the action of a group member, the organisation that made the booking will be liable for the costs of making good the damage. Where group or individual behaviour is deemed to be unreasonable by the Arkwright Society, the booking for a group or any part of it may be terminated. Under such circumstances the group will be required to leave immediately. Smoking Cromford Mills are Grade I Listed and part of the Derwent Valley Mills World heritage Site. Please respect our strict policy of NO SMOKING in any of the buildings on site in addition to outdoor areas within the perimeter walls. Accessibility Due to the historical nature of the site at CromfordMills we are unable to provide wheelchair access to the University Suite or the upper floor of the Gothic Warehouse at this time. Ramps are available for ground floor access. However we are fully committed to improving access to all parts of the site and our regeneration programme dictates that all buildings will be provided with lift access as they are developed.
