Best way to stay connected and be informed about your student?
PowerSchool and Canvas!
What’s the difference?
PowerSchool records attendance and grades.
It’s a snapshot of current performance.
Canvas is all about the courses and assignments.
It puts class information at your fingertips.
Just about EVERY assignment paper and textbook resource is available
on Canvas. If your student misses school or loses homework papers, s/
he can find it all here.
Log In information for both is available at crwash.org, the office 5582161, or our secretary 558-1391. Free email accounts are available.
See helpful tips from PTA, this page.
PowerSchool
The Main Screen: This screen is a quick overview of the last two
weeks for attendance and also shows the students current schedule, teachers and grade percentage.
If you click on the teachers name it links to their email address.
If you click on the percentage it shows what assignments they
have had for the trimester, what grade the student received
and if there are any assignments that are missing or late.
Absences and Tardies (main screen):
This shows how many absences or tardies the student has for
each class. The total at the bottom is the number of classes
missed not the number of days.
Attendance History: Shows attendance for the entire year.
Email Notification: This screen allows you to set up any notifications you would like to receive regarding your students’ grades,
assignments or attendance. You can get daily, weekly or
monthly notifications.
Canvas
Assignments: Shows any upcoming assignments, in list form,
with links to the assignments. Just about EVERY assignment paper and textbook resource is available on Canvas.
Calendar: This screen shows the assignments, tests and quizzes that are due or coming up for each class your student has.
Course: All courses for each of your students is listed. Click on
the link to find more information about the course: expectations, syllabus, assignments, textbooks on-line, and more.
Success: A Team Effort!
Teacher Contact is encouraged! Keep up with grades & attendance through
PowerSchool, and class assignments through Canvas, but never hesitate to
contact a teacher at WHS.
Staff contacts are at crwash.org or call the main office at 319.558.2161.
Conferences are officially scheduled through the school once a semester.
But call or email any time you have concerns.
Open House fall semester is a blast! Walk the halls just like your kids do,
travelling from class to class on a bell schedule. Meet the teachers and hear a
bit about the class.
IEP meetings are used to review, renew, and evaluate your child’s individualized education program. They include the special education roster teacher, a general education teacher familiar with your child, and other resource staff to develop the best program and accommodations for the student’s success.
IEP reports show the student’s progress toward meeting goals defined during the IEP meeting. Data from
probes or other measures are graphed. The teacher indicates progress on a 1 to 5 scale. They will be mailed
home mid-term and end-of-semester (4 times per year). We include grade reports and department news.
Working together to achieve success for every student is our goal.
Thank you for participating in your child’s success!
