Culturae Mundi - ‘Cultures of the World’ in Latin - is a project selfmanaged by a team of students from different academic backgrounds
and nationalities.
Culturae Mundi opens up various opportunities for students to enhance
their professional experience in this project while taking part in the
social and cultural life of the city.
Project Description
Culturae Mundi started in January 2012 and consists of a group of mainly
International students who work with students, societies and groups to
celebrate events on campus. These events are either to celebrate a
special cultural day like Chinese New Year when we work with the
relevant CUSU society or are of a more general nature like Fashion, food,
Women, Poetry for which the students work with a variety of
students/societies on the same event.

Responsible for the creative design and implementation of that
design to create a piece of media e.g. the video of an
event/interview or the production of a commercial to effectively
promote the Culturae Mundi brand.
To attend and record the event and edit the video ensuring picture
and sound are of high quality.
To ensure that the media piece is quality checked and complete
and queries resolved prior to submission to deadline for
dissemination on the various Culturae Mundi online sites.
Plan in advance and ensure equipment available is of a standard to
produce a high quality product.
Responsible for the safekeeping and care of any Culturae Mundi
equipment borrowed, ensuring it is in good working order on
booking out and on return.
Back up all raw data onto the Culturae Mundi external hard drive
in the office after the piece of media is published.

Report to the Press & Media Relations Officer.
To attend press team meetings with the Press & Media Relations
Officer before each event in order to get first-hand knowledge
about the type, the topic and the guests of each event and to
plan the work.
To liaise with the rest of the media team before, during and after
the event as necessary.
The role responsibilities can be changed according to the needs of
the organisation.
Required Skills
Media Production degree or other relevant background.

Public Relations skills.
Very good administrative skills with strong IT skills in Word, Excel
and PowerPoint.
Very good oral and written communication skills in English.
Accuracy and attention to detail.
Understanding of audiences.
Critical thinking
Open-mindedness for new cultures as the purpose of the
organization is to promote the multiculturalism.
Comfortable in handling a variety of cameras and equipment.
Ability to film, edit and produce video from start to finish.
Experience with editing software: Adobe Premier Pro or Final Cut
Pro.
Prior working or volunteering experience in media production would be
an asset.
