the Royal College of Music in London, led by violinist Alina Ibragimova.

The summer of 1846 was to be the last that Chopin would spend at
George Sand’s estate in Nohant. It was there that he composed or
completed the core of his works over a period of seven years. That last,
golden summer produced some of Chopin’s most ambitious pieces,
including the Barcarolle, the Nocturnes Op.62a, and of course the Cello
Sonata, the very last work published in his lifetime. Pascal Amoyel and
Emmanuelle Bertrand plunge us into the heart of those few months
before the couple’s separation; the ailing Chopin did not yet know that
he was leaving his musical testament.

German virtuoso Alban Gerhardt. Vieuxtemps and Ysaÿe are best
known for their pyrotechnic compositions for the violin, but each also
wrote two works for cello and orchestra. Little-known today, they are
nothing short of a revelation. The two Vieuxtemps concertos contain

time. This recording featuring Petrenko leading the Royal Liverpool
Philharmonic Orchestra is the first in a series for Onyx that will contain

sparkling concert overture Cockaigne. The symphony was premièred in

Jazz Village’s Magma series primarily focuses on classic recordings, reissued in celebration of the band’s 45th anniversary. However, Slag
Tanz – a masterpiece of symphonic metal – has previously only been heard in live performance. Magma first released Félicité Thösz in 2012.
Dominated by the celestial voice of Stella Vander, it was the band’s first studio album since they re-formed in the early part of the century.
With lyrics in French (which is not common in the band’s discography) as well as Kobaïan, the language invented by Christian Vander, Félicité
Thösz is a trip which will lead you from Japan to the Urals via Central Asia, with a detour to pay homage to Tamla Motown. Powerful, hypnotic
