Culturae Mundi - ‘Cultures of the World’ in Latin - is a project self-managed
by a team of students from different academic backgrounds and
nationalities.
Culturae Mundi opens up various opportunities for students to enhance
their professional experience in this project while taking part in the social
and cultural life of the city.
Project Description
Culturae Mundi started in January 2012 and consists of a group of mainly
International students who work with students, societies and groups to
celebrate events on campus and in the city. These events are either to
celebrate a special cultural day like Chinese New Year when we work with
the relevant CUSU society or are of a more general nature like Fashion,
food, Women, Poetry for which the students work with a variety of
students/societies on the same event.

Role responsibilities
and main duties.

To plan the programme of events in consultation with other team
members taking into account course deadlines and overseas visits.
To build and maintain strong relationship with CUSU.
To discuss and agree event feedback methods and multicultural
survey with the Press and Media Relations Officer and ensure its
implementation.
To collect and record data of Culturae Mundi events and report
these to the Project Manager.
To manage the general volunteers during the events in cooperation
with the HR Officer.
To ensure the availability of a venue for each Culturae Mundi event
and confirm the booking by completing documentation within the
agreed timescale.

To meet with venue managers and technicians to ensure all is well
and understood. Put any verbally agreed alterations to the booking
form in writing.
To gather all band and performers technical requirements and
ensure these are listed on the venue booking form and available on
the day.
To maintain the performers database.
To manage the Music Technology Specialist during the events.
To ensure catering for relevant events is sourced and all
arrangements made in detail and in writing.
To source decorations on time from our own stock or from external
suppliers.
To ensure films for relevant events are sourced, pre-viewed and
available on the day. See also Square One manager for their film
procedure.
To ensure the proper set up (by technicians or yourself/ team/
General Volunteers) and pack-up of the venue.
To ensure the event expenditure has been costed and approved in
advance by the Project Manager.
The role responsibilities can be changed according to the needs of
the organization.

The candidate should be attending an Event Management,
Engineering or Business Management course.

£500 per month
£500 bonus payment will be paid based on the performance
evaluation at the end of the employment relationship.
Participation at 1 Linguae Mundi overseas field trip
Free attendance of any Linguae Mundi language course – (saving of
£75)
Paid holidays: 8 bank holidays and 20 annual leave days (including 3
annual days fixed over the Christmas period).
GLP points if registered.
