I will make rivers flow on barren heights,
and springs within the valleys.
I will turn the desert into pools of water,
and the parched ground into springs.

when your response did not come soon enough

Grant us mercy, O God.
Show us what it means to love again, dear Lord.
HYMN 298
I, Christ the Son, bear all their sin alone,
Embracing judgment from Your glorious throne.
As Son and spotless Lamb, I shed My blood
To bring them boldly to Your face, My God.”
Jacob and Libby Eubanks
PRAYER OF CONFESSION
God of mercy, hear the prayers of your thirsting people.
For every time we have attributed your miracles in our lives
to our own hands alone,
SERMON
O why, My God, have You forsaken Me?
Why have You now refused My final plea?
Though I cry out in sorrow, pain, and fear,
You turn Your back; in silence, disappear.
MEINKE
Prayer for our Nation
Our fathers’ God, to thee, author of liberty, to thee we sing;
long may our land be bright with freedom’s holy light;
protect us by thy might, great God, our King. Amen.
Dan Forrest
I, Christ the Son, obey Your great command,
Enduring punishment for sinful man.
As Son and silent Lamb, I choose this path:
Accept rejection to appease Your wrath.
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
World without end. Amen. Amen.
Direct us in the way of peace, we pray.

“How long, My God, will You neglect My prayer?
Will You forget these tears of dark despair?
Yet not My will, but Yours alone be done:
Forsake not man, but Me—Your sinless Son.
I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth; and in
Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord: Who was conceived by the Holy
Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was
crucified, dead, and buried; the third day he rose from the dead; he
ascended into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father
Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I
believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of
saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life
everlasting. Amen.

CALL TO OFFERTORY
Spirit of the living God, fall afresh on me.
Spirit of the living God, fall afresh on me.
Melt me, mold me, fill me, use me.
Spirit of the living God, fall afresh on me.
Thanks be to God. Amen.

AFFIRMATION OF FAITH
Forgive us, Loving One, and quench our thirst with your grace;
remake us into vessels of tenderness and compassion.
For Christ’s sake we pray. Amen.
Because of God’s great love for us,
we have peace with God and access to God’s grace
all through Jesus Christ
who, while we were still sinners,
died to free us from the bondage of sin.
Therefore, we may ask of Christ
to give us the living water that quenches the dryness of our souls.
In this we know we are forgiven.
The poor and needy search for water,
but there is none;
their tongues are parched with thirst.
But I the Lord will answer them;
I, the God of Israel, will not forsake them.

Holy Week
In the Christian year, Holy Week is part of the Lenten season that precedes
the celebration of Easter. It is the observation and celebration of Jesus’ last
week on earth. The earliest observances date from the latter half of the 3rd
century. Holy Week begins with Palm Sunday (March 29), followed by
Maundy Thursday (April 2) and Good Friday (April 3), culminating in Easter Sunday
(April 5). Many Methodists fast, study the Bible, and reflect during this time. Here at
Dauphin Way, we will have daily worship services each morning of Holy Week at 7:00
AM (March 30 – April 3), followed by a light breakfast. In addition, we gather together
for worship in the sanctuary at 7:00 PM on Maundy Thursday to remember Jesus’ Last
Supper with his disciples.
