Heritage Week Celebrations(15th - 20th April 2015) Students of DAV Public School celebrated Heritage Week from 15 April 2015 - 20 April 2015 to celebrate the World Heritage Day which is observed on April 18, 2015. An array of activities was organized for classes 5-10 to apprise the students of the importance of conserving our precious heritage. The theme was ‘Sustainable Practices for Protection of Mother Earth’. Students of classes 8-10 had a ‘Shloka writing’ activity on April 15, 2015 wherein students wrote Shlokas with their meanings. Students of classes 5-7 participated in a ‘Role Play’ activity on April 16, 2015 in which students represented leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Subhash Chandra Bose, Chandrashekhar Azad, Bhagat Singh, Narendra Modi and Sonia Gandhi. On April 17, 2015 students of classes 5-7 joined a ‘Paper Bag Making’ activity with slogan written on the paper bags to promote a greener planet. On the World Heritage Day, April 18, 2015 students of classes 5 and 6 did a collage making activity by tearing and pasting keeping the theme of ‘Green India’ in mind. Several students of classes 5-8 were taken to Abdur Rahim Khan i Khana’s Tomb where conservation promotion activities were organized by the Aga Khan Trust for Culture. Students had hands on experience of conservation work. Students of classes 9-10 had a placard making activity on extinct and endangered species. On April 20, 2015, the students of Heritage club conducted a special assembly on World Heritage Day in which a speech and a fusion dance were presented. . A beautiful thought on conservation of heritage was shared and students were urged to do their bit in conservation of the rich and varied heritage of India.
