Position Description: Heritage Program Assistant (Special Events) Heritage Toronto is a charitable arms-length agency of the City of Toronto established in 1949 to promote a greater appreciation for the city’s rich architectural, cultural, archaeological and natural heritage. Through partnerships with local community groups and volunteers, Heritage Toronto provides city-wide programs and services. Workplace: Term: Heritage Toronto offices, 3rd flr, St. Lawrence Hall, 157 King Street East 8-week summer contract, funded through Canada Summer Jobs Monday to Friday, 30 hours/week Reports to: Program and Special Events Coordinator Deadline for applications: May 21, 2015 at 5:00p.m. Responsibilities: Assists in the development of the annual Heritage Toronto Awards and William Kilbourn Memorial Lecture: o Assists in the preparation of Awards program booklet o Assists in the planning and execution of event, including but not limited to suppliers, invitations, ticket sales, and event promotion Assists in the coordination of online and phone registration for Tours Program Assists in the development of other Heritage Toronto events, in particular plaque presentations. Acts as an ambassador for Heritage Toronto at public events Other duties as required. Qualifications Post-secondary education in event management, or a related discipline and demonstrated experience in event planning; funding for this position requires that the successful candidate be enrolled as a returning student at a post-secondary institution in Fall 2015 Experience in event planning (asset) Strong problem solving and group work leadership skills Ability to interact with people of all ages and cultural backgrounds Ability to work independently and as part of a team Sound computer skills Strong oral and written communication skills Ability to work flexible hours Please submit your application, consisting of a resume and covering letter to Kaitlin Wainwright, Director of Programming at [email protected].
