CC Math 8 – Next Steps in Math
Students must enroll in one of three courses to
continue to strengthen their foundation in
Algebra 1 before advancing to Geometry
• Students who earn an “A” or “B” in CC Math 8 may
enroll in either Algebra 1 or Algebra B.
• Students who earn a “C” in CC Math 8 may enroll
in Algebra B. Students who earn a grade lower
than a “C-” must enroll in Algebra A.
Algebra 1, A, and B
• Algebra 1 includes all of the topics in Algebra 1 at the
pace of a typical high school mathematics course. Next
course: Geometry.
• Algebra B includes the Algebra 1 topics not covered in
CC Math 8. The course moves at a slower pace to help
students who need additional time to master
challenging concepts. Next course: Geometry.
• Algebra A includes the introductory topics in Algebra 1
and will allow students who did not master these topics
in CC Math 8 to attain mastery before moving on to
Algebra B. Next course: Algebra B.
Student Support
• Math Help – Math teachers are available to
help students before school, at lunch, and
after school.
• Chem Help – Chemistry teachers tutor
students after school.
• CSF Peer Tutoring – California Scholarship
Federation students tutor students in all
