Break Out Session Information
We will split the group into the following breakout session categories;
1) Well Plug and Abandonment Session – Over 500 Wells in the UK SNS need to be safely
abandoned in the next 7 years. This provides the region with a tremendous business opportunity.
This group will work together in developing ideas and actions in best positioning the region to deliver
low cost solutions to the Asset owners and leading Contractors.
2) Pipelines and Subsea Infrastructure – Pipelines and Subsea infrastructure will require an
engineered solution to make safe and / or remove. How can the region position itself on working with
Asset Owners, Subsea Companies and Heavy Lift contractors to address the safe removal of
pipelines, subsea wells and supporting subsea infrastructure?
3) Topside and Substructure Preparation for Removal – A Significant amount of work will be
required to prepare the Topsides and Jackets for safe removal. Philosophies need to be developed to
minimise heavy lift vessel time. This work group will collaborate on developing cost saving actions
that will minimise Asset Owner costs.
4) Collaboration and Timing of Asset Removal – Effective planning and scheduling of
abandonment programs in the UK SNS will allow Asset Owners to make serious cost savings. By
working together and sequencing jobs sequentially, Asset Owners can collaborate from Well Plugging
& Abandonment through to heavy lift and secure more competitive deals in the market. How can this
group work together to target economies of scale, enhanced efficiencies, and sustaining a skilled
contract workforce?
