plans to reopen in a new location when she returns. Ana thanks

spaces which will in turn pay for the school's expenses. Talk to Natalie

The Gymsito Gym (100 meters north of the market) is closing after
deciding it just cannot afford to pay the huge rent increase required by
the landlord to renew the lease. This facility was a great community
service and it is sad that the gym, staff and customers will have
nowhere to go after working so hard to establish the location.

El Gimnasio Gymsito (100 metros al norte del mercado) ha cerrado
después de decidir que simplemente no puede permitirse el lujo de
pagar el enorme aumento del alquiler requerido por el propietario para
renovar el contrato de arrendamiento. Este gimnasio fue un gran
servicio a la comunidad y es triste que el gimnasio, el personal y los
clientes no tengan a dónde ir después de trabajar tan duro para
establecer la ubicación.

National Police - By Press Release number 06/2015, the National
Police (under the provisions of the Police Act) announced this
Tuesday that there have been a number of movements and rotations
of personnel. This includes Comisionado Mayor Enrique Salazar
Alemán, Head of the Department of Rivas who moves to an HQ
position as Chief of the Division of General Administration. He will
be replaced by Comisionado Mayor Roger José Tórrez.
Granada Market – Started in March 1890 and finished in
September 1892, the Granada Market is currently being assessed as
a potential National Heritage Building. In order to retain its
historical value, the Municipality of Granada is promoting a plan to
renovate the building using the same materials and systems that the
original structure would have used. At the same time, the United
Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization
(UNESCO) requires that the renovations must bring the safety of the
building up to date, for instance the electricity system.
Crime Prevention in Granada - Teachers in El Gran Sultana
received a workshop aimed at the prevention of violence and drug
use by students. The course covers behavior inside and outside of the
classroom. The Youth Affairs Department of the National Police say
that the training is part of the campaign “This is My Roll” (Este si es
Mi Rollo) to promote peace and hope in the young, even in the most
difficult areas. Granada is also affectionately known as El Gran
Sultana, after its Moorish and Andalusian themes which contrast the
more Castilian style in León.
Nicaraguan Busted In CR - Anti-narcotics officers at Juan
Santamaria International Airport stopped a Nicaraguan passport
holder with nearly two kilograms of powdered cocaine as he tried to
board a board an Iberia flight to Madrid, Spain. Officers found the
drugs flattened and compressed into a flat rectangular pack and sewn
into a carry-on bag. The 29-year old man (with a last name of López)
had entered Costa Rica last week at the Peñas Blancas border post.
He is the 18th foreign traveler to have been captured this year at the
busy SJO airport. Cocaine is the drug of choice for this type of
smuggling and the hidden compartment method is also the most
common.

Electrical Fire – A Pica Pica family escaped a house fire on Monday
when an apparent short in an electrical circuit caused the fire early on
Monday. The house was reduced to ashes but Salvadora López
Mendoza (74), her husband and son managed to make it out of the
thick smoke to safety after which the flames quickly consumed the
wooden house. By the time the Rivas Volunteer Fire Department got
there, the 50 square meter dwelling was gone. Those affected lost
beds, furniture, household goods and clothes, so they were only what
they were put. The house was on the Menco Road in the
Municipality of Potosí.
On Mother's Day – The country's 169 maternity homes will
celebrate Mother's Day on May 30th with a coordinated event. The
homes were born out of a response to women in rural areas with little
or no easy access to maternity care. They provide a safe place to give
birth and offer pre and postnatal care. The plan includes a
beautification component (clean up and paint etc.) as well as cultural
events and craft workshops. According to official statistics, last year
41,000 women were treated in the 169 maternity homes across the
country and this they expect more 50,000. Here in SJdS the center is
called the Casa Materna Municipal "Mamá Teodora" and is
next to the Centro Cívico, Municipal Council building.
Tragic Accident – A bus loaded with 72 people from Boaca, and
bound for Rivas, left the road and rolled onto its side after a front tire
failed The accident resulted in the death of a 12 year old female
passenger and left numerous other passengers injured, at least two
seriously. The accident occurred at 6:40 am last Sunday.
Ambulances, firefighters, Red Cross, Police and the Ministry of
Health were all at the scene helping treat the injured and transport
them to the José Nieborowski Hospital in Boaco. The passengers
were on a private trip to the Department of Rivas.
Bread Fair – The Third Regional Bread Fair (Feria Regional del
Pan) will be held in Masaya on May the 20th will begin at 9:00 am and
end at 6:00 pm.at the Trade Park (Parque de Ferias). About 50
bakeries from Jinotepe, Rivas, Granada and Masaya are expected to
attend. You can expect to find a variety of traditional Nicaraguan
breads as well as garlic, carrot and sweet bread (pan dulce). The idea
of the show is to benefit the food production sector and various
organizations will be giving technical assistance to improve product
quality, design and corporate image.

Policía Nacional - Comunicado de Prensa
número 06/2015, la Policía Nacional (en
virtud de las disposiciones de la Ley de la
Policía) anunció este martes que ha habido
una serie de movimientos y rotaciones de
personal. Esto incluye el Comisionado

Mercado de Granada – Inicio su
construcción en marzo de 1890 y terminó en

Ay u n t a m i e n t o d e G r a n a d a e s t á
promoviendo un plan para renovar el
edificio utilizando los mismos materiales y

utilizado. Al mismo tiempo, la Organización
para la Educación, la Ciencia y la Cultura de
las Naciones Unidas (UNESCO) requiere
que las reformas deben llevar la seguridad
del edificio hasta la fecha, por ejemplo, el
sistema eléctrico.
Prevención del Delito en Granada – Los
Profesores en La Gran Sultana recibieron un
taller dirigido a la prevención de la violencia
y el consumo de drogas por los estudiantes.
El curso cubre el comportamiento dentro y
fuera del aula. El Departamento de la Policía
Nacional de Asuntos de la Juventud dice que
la formación es parte de la campaña "Este es
mi rollo" para promover la paz y la
esperanza en los jóvenes, incluso en las
zonas más difíciles. Granada también es
cariñosamente conocido como La Gran
Sultana, después de su tema Moorish y
andaluces que contrastan con el estilo más

Quiebre a nicaragüense en CR – Los
agentes antinarcóticos en el Aeropuerto
Internacional Juan Santamaría detuvieron el
pasaporte a un nicaragüense con casi dos
kilogramos de cocaína en polvo, mientras
trataba de subir a bordo de un vuelo de Iberia
a Madrid, España. Los agentes encontraron
las drogas aplanadas y se comprimidas en un
paquete rectangular plana y cosidos en una
bolsa de equipaje de mano. El hombre de 29
años (de apellido López) había entrado a
Costa Rica la semana pasada en el puesto
fronterizo de Peñas Blancas. Él es el viajero

por presuntos casos de tráfico de drogas en
el concurrido aeropuerto internacional JSM.
La cocaína es la droga de elección para este
tipo de contrabando y el método en
compartimento oculto también es el más
común (seguido de la ingestión, flejes de
partes del cuerpo y dilución en forma
líquida).
Fuego Eléctrico - Una familia en l
comunidad Pica Pica escapó de un incendio
en su casa el lunes, cuando un aparente
cortocircuito en un circuito eléctrico causó
el fuego la madrugada del lunes. La casa
quedó reducida a cenizas, pero Salvadora
López Mendoza (74), su marido y su hijo se
las arreglaron para lograr salir seguros del
espeso humo después de que las llamas
consumieron rápidamente la casa de
madera. Por el momento el Departamento
de Bomberos Voluntarios Rivas llegó allí, la
vivienda de 50 metros cuadrados se había
ido. Los afectados perdieron camas,
muebles, artículos para el hogar y ropa, por
lo que tenían sólo lo que se pusieron. La casa
estaba ubicada en el camino hacia el Menco
en el Municipio de Potosí.
En el Día de la Madre – Unas 169
maternidades del país celebrarán el Día de la
Madre el 30 de mayo con un evento
coordinado. Las casas nacieron de una
respuesta a las mujeres de las zonas rurales
con poco o nada de fácil acceso a los
servicios de maternidad. Proporcionan un
lugar seguro para dar a luz y la oferta de pre
y postnatal. El plan incluye un componente
de embellecimiento (limpiar y pintar, etc.),
así como eventos culturales y talleres de
artesanía. Según las estadísticas oficiales
del Ministerio de Salud, el año pasado
41.000 mujeres fueron tratadas en 169
casas de maternidad en todo el país y este

Trágico Accidente - Un autobús cargado
con 72 personas de Boaco, y con destino a
Rivas, salieron de la carretera y rodó sobre
su lado después que un neumático delantero
falló que resultó en la muerte de una
pasajera de 12 años y dejó a muchos otros
pasajeros heridos, al menos dos de
gravedad. El accidente ocurrió a las 6:40 am
del domingo pasado. Las ambulancias,
bomberos, Cruz Roja, Policía y el
Ministerio de Salud estaban en el lugar
ayudando a atender a los heridos y a
transportarlos al Hospital José Nebroski en
Boaco. Los pasajeros estaban en un viaje
privado al Departamento de Rivas.

Feria del Pan - La Tercera Feria Regional
del Pan se llevará a cabo en Masaya el 20 de
mayo iniciará a las 9:00 am y terminan a las
6:00 pm. En el Parque del Comercio (Parque
de Ferias). Se espera que alrededor de 50
panaderías de Jinotepe, Rivas, Granada y
Masaya van asistir. Los asistentes pueden
esperar encontrar una variedad de panes
tradicionales de Nicaragua, así como el pan
de ajo, zanahoria y pan dulce. La idea del
programa es en beneficio del sector de
producción de alimentos. En este sentido,
también en el espacio de venta y exhibición
estarán diversas organizaciones que dan
asistencia técnica para mejorar la calidad del
producto, el diseño y la imagen corporativa.

Telica Volcano – There was no holding back
the country's most active volcano as it
spewed fiery rocks and gases on Sunday and
showering nearby towns with ash. Some 30
small eruptions since Thursday were the
warning sign that this bear of a volcano was
out of hibernation. One local estimated that
hot rocks, gas and ash must have reached a
height of 400 meters. Meanwhile on the
ground, flaming rocks set fire to vegetation
on the volcano's slopes and fire balls of
burning foliage entertained the crowds.
Despite being dusted in ash following the
eruptions, the nearby towns of Posoltega and
Guanacastal reported no injuries. Likewise
the disaster prevention authorities said that
the activity was within a normal range at this
time. Should that change, three evacuation
centers were set up in nearby towns. Telica
rises to 1,061 meters above sea and is about
112 kilometers northwest of Managua and
30kms north of León. On Ometepe, Volcano
Concepción is also being watched after
numerous small explosions were detected
by seismic equipment monitoring the
location.
Internet Control – A proposed new law that
grants Telcor the right to access the
confidential information of state institutions
and private companies in Nicaragua is
naturally causing some concern amongst
various business and human rights groups.
TELCOR is the Nicaraguan Institute for
Telecommunications and Postal Services
and is a state institution charged with
regulating those services. José Adán
Aguerri, President of the Superior Council
of Private Enterprise voiced the concerns of
his members in relation to the draft law on
the Promotion and Development of the
National Network of Telecommunications
Broadband Services. His main concern is
that as the draft law stands right now, the
State could take full control of Internet
services nationwide and
jeopardize the principles
of free enterprise. Aguerri
said that the bill is contrary
to the expectations of
investors and creates a
monopoly run by a state
enterprise. It would give
TELCOR authority to fix
pricing, grant access to
confidential information
and only allow access to
the National Broadband
Network to those
complying with the terms,
rates and conditions set by
TELCOR.

Tumarín Project Starts - The hydroelectric
project that could provide 253 megawatts or
half of the current consumption of the
country is well underway according to
Felipe Mendonça, the Brazilian
Ambassador to Nicaragua. The
compensation payments to the people of
Apawás are nearly complete and the next
phase of the project is the construction of a
work camp for engineers and workers. This
is a US $1.1 billion project and is scheduled
for completion by late February 2019. The
National Assembly has confirmed that all
permits (construction and environmental)
are in place. The project will create about
five thousand new construction jobs starting
this year.
Comforting News - Between the 18th and
25th of May, the United States Navy Ship
Comfort, a hospital ship, will provide care
for hundreds of Nicaraguans on each of
those days she is anchored off the Caribbean
port of Puerto Cabezas. The ship left
Florida on April 6th as part of a mission that
takes her to 11 countries in the Caribbean,
Central America and South America.
Snake Oil - A clandestine natural medicine
laboratory in the Pedro Joaquin Chamorro #
1 neighborhood of Tipitapa (A City in the
Department of Managua) was busted by the
National Police last week. Police claim that
the unlicensed and unregistered business
was operated by Zulema Vásquez Ríos and
her life partner Ricardo Alegría who could
not show any documentation from the
Ministry of Health (MoH). Police say that
Zulema Vásquez Ríos was a Pastor from the
Evangelical Church "Jesus Christ is the Way
(Jesucristo es el Camino). Vásquez claimed
that the products were natural and could
treat problems with the liver and colon and
that nobody had made a complaint about the
business.
National Reforestation Campaign – June
the 5th is the start of this effort to reforest
29,000 hectares (over 71,000 Acres and
more than 41,000 manzanas) on this
national program. This plan has already seen
more than nine million trees planted and
aims to almost double that. Of these trees,
111,000 will be planted this year. During the
past eight years, the National Reforestation
Campaign has recovered more than 130,000
hectares and is a project of the Sandinista
government in conjunction with the
Guardabarranco Environmentalist
Movement (Movimiento Ambientalista
Guardabarranco), local agricultural
businesses and more than 400 young
Nicaraguans.

Volcán Telica - No había frenando el volcán
más activo del país, ya que arrojó piedras y
gases ardientes el domingo pasado y baño a
los pueblos cercanos con ceniza. Unas 30
pequeñas erupciones desde el jueves eran la
señal de advertencia de que este oso de un
volcán estaba fuera de la hibernación. Una
estimación local dice que las rocas calientes,
gas y cenizas deben haber alcanzado una
altura de 400 metros. Mientras tanto en el
suelo, las rocas en llamas prendieron fuego a
la vegetación en las laderas del volcán y las
bolas de fuego quemo el follaje entretenido a
las multitudes. A pesar de haber sacado el
polvo de ceniza después de la erupción, los
pueblos cercanos de Posoltega y
Guanacastal reportaron heridos. Las
autoridades de prevención de desastres,
dijeron que a pesar de la demostración, la
actividad estaba dentro de un rango normal
en este momento. En caso de que algún
cambio, hay tres centros de evacuación que
se establecieron en los pueblos cercanos. El
volcán Telica se eleva a 1.061 metros sobre
el mar y se encuentra a unos 112 kilómetros
al noroeste de Managua y 30kms al norte de
León. En Ometepe, el Volcán Concepción

Control de Internet - Un nuevo proyecto de
ley que otorga a Telcor el derecho a acceder a
la información confidencial de las
instituciones del Estado y empresas privadas
en Nicaragua está causando naturalmente
cierta preocupación entre los diversos
grupos empresariales y de derechos
humanos. TELCOR es el Instituto
Nicaragüense de Telecomunicaciones y
Servicios Postales y es una institución
estatal encargada de la regulación de esos
servicios. José Adán Aguerri, Presidente del
Consejo Superior de la Empresa Privada
COSEP expresó las preocupaciones de sus
miembros en relación con el proyecto de ley
de Promoción y Desarrollo de la Red
Nacional de Servicios de Banda Ancha y
Te l e c o m u n i c a c i o n e s . S u p r i n c i p a l
preocupación es que a medida que el
proyecto de ley está ahora, el Estado podría
tomar el control total de los servicios de
Internet en todo el país y poner en peligro los
principios de la libre empresa. Aguerri dijo
que el proyecto de ley es contrario a las
expectativas de los inversores y crea un
monopolio dirigido por una empresa del

Proyecto Tumarín Inicia - El proyecto
hidroeléctrico que podría proporcionar 253
megavatios o una mitad del consumo actual
del país está en marcha de acuerdo con
Felipe Mendonça, el embajador de Brasil en
Nicaragua. Los pagos de compensación a la
gente de Apawás están casi completos y la
siguiente fase del proyecto es la
construcción de un campo de trabajo para

clandestino de medicina natural en el Pedro

(una ciudad en el Departamento de
Managua) fue arrestado por la Policía
Nacional la semana pasada. La policía
afirma que el negocio sin licencia y no
registrado fue operado por Zulema Vásquez
Ríos y su compañero de vida Ricardo

documentación del Ministerio de Salud
(Minsa). La policía dice que Zulema
Vásquez Ríos era un pastor de la Iglesia

Nica Sail n' Surf is the owner of the beautifully rigged
catamaran; Must B Crazy. It is a 38' Athena built by
Fountaine Pajot of La Rochelle, France. She is well
traveled, having cruised the Atlantic and island
hopped around the Caribbean before making her
way through the Panama Canal to her new home in
San Juan del Sur.
Captain Zach and the crew of Must B Crazy have one
mission: to give you an epic sailing adventure of your
dreams, exploring the coastline north and south of
SJdS. Here are just two examples of the types of
sailing you can expect;
Playa Blanca Beach Cruise
from 1p.m. – Sunset
This cruise takes you to Playa Blanca (The White
Beach) for some swimming, snorkeling and relaxing.
Depending on the season, you could see whales,
dolphins and turtles. Fishing under sail, you can
expect to catch mackerel, tuna or Mahi Mahi
(Dorado). Upon arrival guests can swim to the
beach, float in the water around the boat, or just
relax on board.
Drinks are served throughout the entire tour and
include Nicaragua's world famous Flor de Caña rum
and a variety of local beers. The departure time from
Playa Blanca is about 4:30pm which allows everyone

Nica Sail n 'Surf es el dueño del bello catamarán aparejado; Must B
Crazy. Es una Atenea de 38' construido por Fountaine Pajot de La
Rochelle, Francia. Ella ha viajado bien, habiendo cruzado el Atlántico y
la isla, saltó por el Caribe antes de hacer su camino a través del Canal de
Panamá a su nuevo hogar en San Juan del Sur. El Capitán Zach y la
tripulación del Must B Crazy tienen una misión: darle una épica aventura
de vela de sus sueños, explorar el norte y el sur del litoral de SJDS. Estos
son sólo dos ejemplos los tipos de navegación que puede esperar;
Representatives of hotels and tour operators in Nicaragua and
the European Union (EU) discussed the importance of
“Economic and Sustainable Tourism in Nicaragua” as part of
a show promoted by the EU and held this past 8th and 9th of
May. Agents from Germany, Spain, France, Holland and
Poland attended the meeting. The authorities from the tourism
sector in Nicaragua introduced to the Europeans 10 operators
from Nicaragua offering sustainable tourism in this country
(companies with a sustainability seal either from the
Rainforest Alliance or another international certification).
Among the companies were TOPS (Tour operators working
for sustainability) and Pelican Eyes Resort & Spa from here
in San Juan del Sur who were recently verified by Rainforest
Alliance.
Crucero a Playa Blanca desde 1:p.m. - Atardecer

Sostenibilidad Económica y Turística en Nicaragua en el
marco de una feria promovida por la UE llevada a cabo este 8
y 9 de Mayo, donde participaron mayoristas de Alemania,

operadoras de Europa las ofertas de turismo sostenible del

Dentro de los destinos a visitar se encuentra, la ruta del café
(norte del país) y la de los volcanes. La cadena volcánica del

The Second Assembly of the
National Chamber of Tourism
(CANATUR) Chapter of San Juan
del Sur was held on May 6th at
Villas de Palermo with the
participation of 40 businesses,
partners (members) and potential
partners. The event was organized
by the board of local chapter.
The Coordinator of the SJdS
Chapter of CANATUR; Maria
Auxiliadora Silva (Del Sur News),
welcomed and thanked the
businesses for their valuable presence at the assembly and
presented to the audience the CANATUR National President;
Sylvia R. Levy, Arturo Cano (National Secretary), Elsie León
(Executive Director), Mario Oviedo (National Board representing
the Association of Nicaragua Car Rental Agencies, ARVENIC),
Patricia García (President of the local Tourism Office and a
businesswoman from the coastal zone), Juan Manuel Caldera,
President of ANID (Association of Investors and Developers), Jose
León Talavera (Empresario and National Director) and the
directors of the local chapter.
The Ms. Sylvia R. Levy, President of CANATUR informed the
partners about the different fairs and activities being organized by
the national executive in the coming months. Ms. Ramirez Levy
said; "The National Chamber of Tourism supports entrepreneurs in
facilitating the process of solving problems with the institutions
responsible for the particular laws".
Lic. Eduardo Cabrales (Lawyer), Vice Coordinator and Director of
Garcia & Bodan told those present about the activities of the board
in 2014. Cabrales pointed out that "Last year was the first year of the
Chapter with local authorities and joint projects of business interest
with existing groups in the area".
Eduardo Holmann, entrepreneur and director of the local chapter
said: "San Juan del Sur needs to work toward a vision of the future,
investing in infrastructure, encouraging investment through
incentives and facilitating the process of national and foreign
investment".
Sergio Corrales (Lawyer), secretary of the local board and
Managing Partner of E. Castillo Advisors spoke about CANATUR,
the benefits for the members and how we can work together for the
good of the businesses and the city. Corrales added; "In this time of
growth for tourism businesses we need the unity required to achieve
significant advances in the challenges that we are facing as
entrepreneurs. With the strengthening of the chapter of CANATUR
in SJDS we will achieve better results in our goals".
Attendees entrepreneurs expressed the most relevant difficulties
currently faced as;
"The constant cuts in power and water, public safety, unfair
competition, the need to follow and enforce the National
Coastal Law Commission (primarily to update the
management of concessions in the coastal area of ​San Juan del
Sur), land transaction law, lack of initiative in the creation of
the border commission, tax collection from beneficiaries of
Law 306 Tourism Investment Law, and the inclusion local
small businesses in the general tax regime".

El pasado 6 de mayo se realizó la Segunda Asamblea de la Cámara
Nacional de Turismo CANATUR del capítulo de San Juan del Sur
en Villas de Palermo, con una participación de 40 empresarios,
socios y potenciales socios, esta actividad fue organizada por la
junta directiva del Capítulo local.
La coordinadora del Capítulo local de CANATUR, Sra. María
Auxiliadora Silva (propietaria de Del Sur News), dio la bienvenida
y agradeció a los empresarios su valiosa presencia en la Asamblea y
presento ante la audiencia a la Presidenta Nacional de CANATUR,
Sra. Sylvia R. de Levy , Arturo Cano (Secretario nacional), Elsie

representando a la Asociación de Rentadoras de Vehículos de
Nicaragua, ARVENIC), a Patricia García (Presidenta del Gabinete

próximos meses fomentadas y organizadas por la directiva
nacional. La Sra. Ramirez de Levy expreso; “La Cámara Nacional
de Turismo apoya a los empresarios en facilitar los procesos de
resolución de problemas con las instituciones correspondientes
basadas en el cumplimiento de las leyes”.

Bodan, explicó a los presentes sobre las actividades realizadas por
la junta directiva en el año 2014. Cabrales señalo que “El año
pasado fue de introducción del Capítulo con las autoridades locales
y de trabajos conjuntos de interés empresarial con los gremios
existentes en la zona.”

expresó: “San Juan del Sur necesita trabajar en dirección de una
visión de futuro, invirtiendo en infraestructura, fomentando la
inversión por medio del cumplimiento de las leyes de incentivo y
facilitando los procesos de inversión nacional y extranjera.”

sobre los beneficios para los socios y cómo podemos trabajar juntos
por el bien empresarial y de la ciudad. Corrales agrego; “En esta
apoca de crecimiento del turismo es necesaria la unidad del gremio
empresarial para lograr avances significativos en los desafíos que
enfrentamos los empresarios, con el fortalecimiento del Capítulo de
CANATUR en SJDS, lograremos mejores resultados en nuestros
objetivos.” Los empresarios asistentes expresaron las dificultades
más relevantes que enfrentan actualmente como;
“Los constantes cortes de energía y agua potable,
inseguridad ciudadana, competencia desleal, la
necesidad de activar la comisión nacional de ley de costas
(principalmente para agilizar la gestión de las
concesiones de la zona costera de San Juan del Sur),
legalidad en los procesos de transacción de tierra, la falta
de creación de la comisión fronteriza, el cobro de
impuestos a empresario beneficiaros de la Ley 306 de
Incentivo a la Industria Turística así como la inclusión del
régimen general de impuestos a micro empresas locales.”

Foreigner Dies of Heart Attack
The US citizen Harry Moy Jr. aged 64 years died in the morning of
Saturday May 9th after he swam in the Bay of San Juan del Sur and
had a heart attack as he got out of the water. Concerned citizens
tried to help, however the victim was taken to the Centro de Salud
without vital signs. Moy lived in a hospedaje near the beach.
Municipal Authorities in San Juan del Sur provided a casket and
the National Police arranged for the transportation to the Institute
of Forensic Medicine in Managua for further investigation.
Extranjero fallece de infarto - El ciudadano norteamericano
Harry Moy Jr. de 64 año de edad con pasaporte americano número
514025613, falleció el mediodía de este sábado 09 de mayo, cuando
este se introdujo al agua de la bahía de San Juan del Sur y le produjo un
infarto así lo confirmaron ciudadanos que circulaban por el lugar. Fue
llevado al centro de salud sin signos vitales. Las autoridades
municipales de San Juan del Sur entregaron el ataúd el extranjero que
se hospedaba cerca de la playa. La policía Nacional investiga el origen
de la muerte del extranjero y se llevo el cuerpo a medicina legal en
Managua para su debida investigación de ley.
Municipal Civil Servants Receive Training
Municipal workers from San Juan del Sur received training in
Human Values ​of Public Service this last 5th of May at the civic
center. Facilitators offered tools to public servants in order that
they could facilitate the development of their work and improve
their skills. The trainers emphasized the constant quality of care
that should be offered to users in the municipality. The training
was provided by the National Committee of the Municipal
Administrative Career, The Office of the President of the Republic
and the Nicaraguan Institute of Municipal Development
(INIFOM) and was attended by some 50 government officials.
Spanish Citizen Mistreats Sanjuaneña
Last Monday May 4th, Celia Arana Lacayo (45 years old) and her
daughter Disa Fonseca Arana (28) reported an incident to the local
police and said that at 7:30 pm on May 2nd they were victims of
verbal and physical abuse by a Spaniard known only by the name
of “Luis”. The incident occurred in the apartment Alejandro
Lacayo said the young Disa Fonseca Arana. She said that she was
hired by Mr. Lacayo every Tuesday to clean his rented room. Disa
claims in her denuncia that on Tuesday April 28th April the room
was closed and the owner of the property opened it for her to clean.
The Spaniard later accused her of stealing a shirt and 800 Euros
(about US $897). Disa denied that claim and countered with an
accusation that the Spaniard threatened her and made death threats
if he saw her in the street. Celia Maria Arana Lacayo filed a police
complaint saying that she came to the defense of her daughter and
the Spaniard named Luis physically assaulted her, threw her to the
ground and beat her causing abrasions and a tooth to loosen.
Accident in San Juan del Sur
A traffic accident occurred on Wednesday May 6th at the entrance
to Barrio Carlos Holmann between a truck (RI 4283) being driven
by Martin Calderón (39) and a Honda motorcycle (without a plate)
driven by Didier Alberto González (23). Witnesses said both
vehicles were traveling from west to east but the motorcycle did
not observe that the truck was turning left and collided with the
truck's left side. Didier Alberto González was taken to the health
center and then to the Rivas hospital for evaluation and determine
if there was fracture in his right foot.

trabajadores(as) municipales de la alcaldía de San Juan del Sur
recibieron capacitación sobre valores los humanos del servidor
público, el pasado 5 de mayo, en el centro cívico. Los facilitadores
ofrecieron herramientas a los servidores públicos que les facilitará
desarrollar su trabajo y mejorar sus aptitudes, los capacitadores
hicieron énfasis en la atención de calidad constante que deben ofrecer
a los usuarios en la municipalidad. La capacitación fue impartida por la
comisión Nacional de la carrera Administrativa Municipal, la
presidencia de la República e INIFOM, donde participan unos 50
funcionarios públicos.
Español maltrata a mujeres sanjuaneñas - Celia Arana
Lacayo, de 45 años de edad y su hija Disa Fonseca Arana de 28 ,
denunciaron este lunes 04 de mayo en la Policía local que fueron
víctima de maltrato verbal y físico por un español conocido solo con el
nombre de Luis ,a las 7:30 de la noche el pasado 2 de mayo. El hecho
ocurrió en los apartamentos de Alejandro Lacayo, según la joven Disa
Fonseca Arana, comentó que ella fue contratada por el señor Lacayo
para que todos los martes le hiciera limpieza en la habitación que renta
el español. Disa declaro que el pasado martes 28 de abril, limpio la
habitación, la cual se encontraba cerrada y el dueño de la propiedad
abrió para que ella limpiara, el español la acusa le robo una camisa y
800 euros, Disa niega la acusación, quien acuso al extranjero de
maltrato y amenaza de muerte cada vez que se encuentra con ella.
Celia María Arana Lacayo, explicó que ella salió en defensa de su hija
y el español de nombre Luis la agredió físicamente golpeándola y
tirándola al suelo a golpes y hasta un diente le aflojo además de
causarle escoriaciones en todo el cuerpo.
Accidente de tránsito San Juan del Sur - Un accidente de
tránsito ocurrió este miércoles 06 de mayo en la entrada a los jubilados
ubicada el barrio Carlos Holmann de San Juan del Sur entre una
camioneta placa RI 4283, conducida por Martin Calderón de 39 años y
la moto sin placa marca Honda conducida por Didier Alberto
González, 23 años. Según los testigos ambos vehículos viajaban de
oeste a este, aparentemente el motorizado no observo los pide vía de la
camioneta que aparentemente giraría hacia la entrada de los jubilados
impactando el motorizado en la parte izquierda de la camioneta. Didier
Alberto González, fue trasladado al centro de salud y después al
hospital de Rivas para su valoración y determinar si hubo fractura en el

Children's Baseball AA Closes First Round – Comunidad Connect is developing this
league in our town with 5 teams. This Saturday they will be closing the first round and the
positions are: Las Pampas with 5 wins and 3 losses, La Auxiliadora y el Ostional 4 & 2, El
Valle 3 & 3 and San José 0 & 6. Games are on Saturday May 16 at 9 am at El Oro with La
Auxiliadora vs El Ostional, El campo Miguel Arana with San José vs El Valle, and Las
Pampas with no game. The leading batter is Kenneth Chevez of Ostional with 615 points and
the leader in ERA is Yubrank Cerda from La Auxiliadora with 0.00.

Continúa el desarrollo de la Liga Juvenil de Fut-sala organizada por Comunidad Connect en
sus dos categorías y ya estamos cerrando la primera vuelta, los partidos se están realizando
los días miércoles y jueves desde las 6 pm, en el Parque Deportivo frente al Malecón. En la
categoría sub 16 el equipo Las águilas están el primer lugar con 18 puntos, Las Quintas con
17 puntos, Deportivo Kaya con 13puntos, La Planta 12 puntos, Barrio Nuevo 11puntos, Los
