The Client
A leading medical device and home care management solution company that provides software and
devices to facilitate remote healthcare management. The firm provides a patient portal and home
care “kits” in coordination with the Qualcomm 2net Hub and Remote Tele Exchange (RTX) services for
measurement and near-real-time transmission of Blood Pressure, Heart Rate, Pulse and other vitals
for a set program duration.
Business Challenge
Develop web tools, interface engines, Integrated Voice Recognition communications, wireless Qualcomm 2net Hub integration and
MedM integration to capture and transmit the data obtained from the patient monitoring devices to the patient portal. This data
would then allow an alerting system to identify any anomalies and message the proper care provider so an intervention could be
facilitated.
Challenges of integrating with the Qualcomm 2net Hub included:
Synchronizing Qualcomm Cloud and the Care Portal.
Identifying valid vital readings from the devices that where transmitted through the Qualcomm 2net Hub. As the devices have
no user interface, the interpretation of the data was entirely up to the business logic for obtaining a meaningful reading. To this
end, Diaspark developed a processes by which the readings from a specified window (e.g. 40 readings) would be obtained and
the RMS Value calculated as the vital value.
As the data from the Qualcomm 2net Hub was in the Qualcomm designated format, a conversion process needed to transform the
data to the companies identified standard.
Diaspark’s Partnership
Diaspark partnered with the client as an IT solutions provider and provided the following services.
1
Deployed developers with advanced knowledge in medical software and interoperability to assist in the
development of web portals, IVR solutions, Qualcomm 2net Hub and MedM integration and communication
protocols to acquire data from the patient pertinent to the program they were enrolled in.
2
Research and prototyping open-source interface engines like Mirth Connect for HL7 integration and IVR
technologies to prove the effectiveness of such software.
3
Prototyping other established portal technologies for alternate data collection and reporting capabilities as well
as business partnerships.
4
To enable Care Management to work in a multi-lingual environment.
5
Researched the workflow to enable Qualcomm 2net Hub and MedM to receive and transmit data and present it
in the Care Management Portal.
Diaspark Value
Diaspark served as a single source solution provider by delivering niche technology capabilities to successfully address the entire
set of client requirements under Patient Portal, Telehealth, HL7 conversions and Qualcomm integration.

Business Benefit to Client
Based on the engagement, the client was able to focus more on the sale and advancement of the program with extended
device support while the solution upgrades continued at agile speed.
With Care Management increasingly being served by mobile technology, the client was able to provide easy and rapid
solution for out-patient monitoring to Hospitals and Home Care providers.
