Residential Garbage Collection & Recycling Stations /Buy-Back Recycling
(Q) How can I properly dispose of “Household
Hazardous Waste?”
(A) Categories of materials that may be considered “household hazardous waste” include automotive products,
paints and solvents, pool chemicals, and hobby and
craft materials. Disposal and recycling outlets for certain household hazardous waste materials are listed
below. Guidelines for the disposal of paint are provided
on Page 3 of this guide. For other materials not specifically listed in this guide, the county may offer vouchers
to cover the cost of disposal or recycling. County residents are encouraged to contact the Office of Environmental Quality at (513) 732-7894 to enquire about the
voucher program. If the material in question is included
in the voucher program, a voucher will be sent to the
resident, who is then responsible for taking the voucher
and the material to the facility identified on the voucher.
Miami Township
·Miami Twp Hall, 5900 McPicken Dr
·Miami Twp Fire Dept., 6492 Branch Hill - Guinea Rd
REPORTING TRASH ALONG OUR ROADS
(Q) Can old cans of paint I have be recycled?
(A) Yes. Cans of paint can be taken to Environmental Enterprises, Inc. (EEI), 4650 Spring Grove Avenue in Cincinnati, Ohio. EEI will charge a nominal fee for this service. Any questions, call EEI
directly at (513) 541-1823.
Another management option is to dry out the liquid paint by mixing it with sand, cat litter, sawdust, or simply by removing the lid. Once the
paint has dried and hardened, it can be disposed
of with your regular trash.
(Q) If I notice trash along a certain roadway,
can the County arrange to have it removed?
(A) If you notice sites that need to be cleaned,
please e-mail [email protected] or call
(513) 732-8126 and advise the type and amount
of litter and if the location is on a curvy or hilly
stretch of road.
DISPOSAL OF OLD APPLIANCES
(Q) How can I properly dispose of my old appliances?
(A) With the exception of television sets and microwave ovens that Clermont County CANNOT accept, you can drop off your old household appliances including washing machines, dryers,
stoves, ranges, freezers, air conditioners, refrigerators, and water heaters at the Clermont County
Engineer’s Office, located off State Route 222 on
Filager Road, next to the Sheriff’s Office. There
is a $20 disposal fee. No pick-up service is available. Any questions, call the Clermont County
Engineer’s office at (513) 732-8857 or Facilities
Manamgement Department at (513) 732-8850.
YARD WASTE DISPOSAL OPTIONS
(Q) What is the best way to dispose of yard
waste?
(A) Some cities/villages will allow you to place grass
clippings, branches, and leaves along the curb
for later pick-up. You can also take yard waste
to Hamilton County yard waste facilities for a
small fee. Composting is always an environmentally friendly option or you can call your waste
hauler to collect your yard waste. For more information, visit the yard waste page at the Office
of Environmental Quality’s web site,
www.oeq.net, or call the Office of Environmental Quality at (513) 732-7894.
Clermont County’s Municipal Court Adult Probations
Department has an alternative sentencing program
where, under the supervision of a Probations Department litter crew supervisor, offenders can pick
up litter along state, county and township roads.
The scheduling of these roadside clean-ups are
based upon need with the sites having the most
litter addressed first. Safety issues may also determine which roads can be cleaned.
If the litter consists of larger items such as refrigerators, water heaters, etc., and located along a
county road within the right-of-way, call the Clermont County Engineer’s office at (513) 732-8857.
For items alongside township roads, call the appropriate Township Trustees office. If the items are located along interstate and state roads such as Route
32, contact the Ohio Department of Transportation
at (513) 797-6008.
REPORTING AN ILLEGAL DUMP
(Q) Who should I call to report an illegal dump?
(A) If you are witnessing an illegal dumping in progress,
please contact 911. If you suspect the illegally
dumped material is hazardous, contact the Ohio
EPA’s 24-hour Emergency Response Hotline at
1-800-282-9378. For non-hazardous material,
contact the Clermont County General Health District
at (513) 732-7499.
WHAT IS COMPOSTING
(Q) How can I begin home composting, and
what can I compost?
(A) To view a variety of home composting bins, visit
the Cincinnati Nature Center at Rowe Woods.
For more information on composting, call Clermont 20/20Clean and Green at (513) 753-9222.
