Day of Prayer for Vocations : Today Sunday 26th April
is Good Shepherd Sunday and World Day of Prayer for
Vocations, a day when all of us are invited to reflect on
the meaning of God’s call and to pray for vocations to
the priesthood and religious life. Jesus is the Good
Shepherd. He laid down his life for his flock, that is,
you and me, the Church. In a general way he invites
everyone in the Church to share in the work of caring for
the flock in our own place and in our own time
First Friday: The Infirm and Housebound of the
Donaghmoyne and Fort View area will be attended on
Thursday 30th April and those in the Broomfield /
Lisdoonan area will be attended on Friday 1st May.
Broomfield Day Care Church View: Our next Dinner

Broomfield N. S. Parents Association: 5K Run/Walk
today Sunday 26th April at 2.00pm. Starting: at
Broomfield School. Registration: 1.30pm. All are
welcome; your support will be gratefully appreciated
Aughnafarcon National School: Calling All Past
Pupils. As part of the Fundraising efforts for the New
extension it has been decided to incorporate a “Down
Memory Lane Wall” within the school. All past Pupils
will be invited to have their Name, Townland, Start
Year and Finish Year recorded on the wall. Committee
members will be contacting all past pupils in the
coming weeks, with further info.

“R U 4 Reel”: playing in Lisdoonan Centre on Sunday
3rd May from 6.00pm to 8.00pm.
Blackhill Emeralds Juvenile Programme : Blackhill
are beginning a coaching programme for all children
(Under 6s, Under 8s and Under 10s) on Sunday 26th
April at 11.00am in GR8 entertainment and will
continue at this venue for at least 4 Sundays. A
Fantastic programme has been planned that contains all
the fundamental skills of Gaelic football. The children
will also avail of great facilities at GR8. All welcome.
Our Lady's Secondary School Castleblayney: are
holding a fundraising ping pong ball race on Monday
4th May with a top prize of €1000. Ping pong balls cost
€5 each and can be purchased in the Glencarn shopping
centre on Friday 1st and Saturday 2nd of May or at the
school on the day of the event. A Fun day will take
place at the school on the day of the race with a variety
of activities starting at 2pm. Everyone welcome
St Michael little Scholars: currently are extending
their preschool hours till 2pm from Sept 2015. We will
no longer be closing through lunchtime. After school
activities are kids cooking & Football skills. Contact the

Monday from 8pm - 9pm. fee is €6.00 per
Donaghmoyne Parish Finance Committee : will meet in
Broomfield Parochial House on Monday 27th April at
8.00pm. All members please attend.
St Lastra’s Well: The Annual Blessing of St Lastra’s
Well in Aghavilla, Donaghmoyne will take place on
Sunday 3 rd May at 3.00pm. (First Sunday of May). We
invite those who would like to come for the Blessing to
gather on the N2 road (from Carickmacross to
Castleblayney) about one mile from Carrickmacross at
about 2.45pm. when we will proceed over the lane to the
Well for the Blessing and Prayers.
Tober Lastra: The Book on the “Parishes of Clogher”
states: ‘The Survey of 1736 states “Here stands a
celebrated Well called Tober Lastra, in the townland of
Aghavilla, to which comes many pilgrims. It is recorded
as a very good place to come to for the cure of sore eyes;
some have certainly got healing there. Within living
memory, large numbers of people gather at this Well on
the first Sunday of May”. Two female saints – St. Lastra
and St. Cera are linked with Donaghmoyne Parish, almost
back to the time of St Patrick.
Triduum in honour of St Joseph.
The Triduum of prayer and healing Wed 29th/Thu 30th
April, Fri 1st May. for the feast of St Joseph. The
triduum is a three -day period of prayer in preparation for
the feast of St Joseph the worker celebrated on May 1st.
O'Duffy Car Park will remain open till 9pm each day of
the Triduum Wed/Thurs/Fri to accommodate parking for
the novena. Prayer Petitions please write out your
petitions and place them in petition box which is located
in front of the church near St Joseph altar. Triduum
candles on sale €2 each at all Masses, can be placed in
baskets for burning in the church during novena. The
Triduum will be conducted by Fr Michael Cusack, a well
known Redemptorist priest and a native of
Carrickmacross. Masses each day of Triduum 10 am
Evening 7-30 pm Wed +Fri Thurs 30th April 7-30pm
Anointing + Healing.
Lough Derg Pilgrimage : Season opens Saturday 2nd
May with One Day Retreats which continue on 3, 4, 9,
10, 12, 16, 17, 19, 23, 25, of May. Advance booking is
essential. The Three Day Pilgrimage season begins on
Friday 29th May. You can begin the Three Day
Pilgrimage any day between 29th May and 13th August.

Carrickmacross Trout Anglers : Our Annual BBQ will
be held on Sunday 3 rd May from 10am to 5:30pm at
Lough Na Garnaman. This year’s proceeds is for The
Alzheimer Day Care Centre Carrickmacross. All are
