Exercise Vehicle Championship
CLASS 7
PLEASURE DRIVING
Open to traditional and modern vehicles, which for the purposes
of this class will be judged on equal merit. Pneumatic tyres
permitted. Turnouts should carry appropriate spares that may be
required whilst out driving. To be judged on general
cleanliness, safety of turnout, correct fitting of harness, vehicle
suitability, driver and groom, horse or pony, way of going.
Competitors will be required to demonstrate the obedience and
flexibility of the turnout by completing tasks set by the judge,
for example driving between cones, and the horse’s or pony’s
manners and ability at halt, walk, trot and rein back
This class is not intended for those who show in private driving
classes. Regular showing competitors are asked to respect this

and then go forward to do an individual 3 minute freestyle
display which must include but in any order:• Three loop serpentine at collected trot
• Rein back 3 - 4 steps, halt and walk forward
• Working trot across the diagonal, show some lengthened
strides

QUALIFIERS
OSBORNE REFRIGERATORS QUALIFIERS
Classes 5, 6, 10 and 13 are qualifiers for the 2015 Osborne Refrigerators
BDS National Championships at Driving Addington. The highest placed
turnout owned and driven by a member of the British Driving Society and
eligible for the Type-Section(s) listed, disregarding those already qualified
down to 6th place (10th place for type-sections (n) – (q)) in the class will
qualify for the 2015 Semi-Finals at Driving Addington. The Championship
will immediately follow the Semi-Finals.
VICTORIA FOOD COMPANY QUALIFIERS
Classes 6, 7 and 13 are qualifiers for the Victoria Food Company
Championships 2015. In each class the winner will qualify for the grand
final to be held on Sunday 13th September 2015 at The Hand Equestrian
Centre, Clevedon, Somerset. In the event that the winner has already
qualified then the second in the class to qualify. If the second has also
qualified, the rosette to be awarded to the winner. Once qualified, the horse,
whip and vehicle may not be changed.
DRIVERS DREAM STYLE & PERFORMANCE QUALIFIERS
Class 9 is a qualifier for the Drivers Dream Style & Performance 2015
Supreme Championships. The highest placed Traditional turnout and the
highest placed Non-Traditional turnout, that have not already done so, will
qualify for the Supreme Championships during Equifest at the East of
England Showground, Peterborough on Sunday 16th August 2015.
POSTPONEMENT / CANCELLATION
Only in exceptional circumstances will this show be postponed or cancelled.
If it is necessary as much notice as possible will be given on the Area website
www.dorset.britishdrivingsociety.co.uk and
the Show Secretary will contact all competitors who have entered to date.

No Horse or Pony under the age of 4 years to be driven in any class
The Judge’s decision is final
Show officials and stewards must be obeyed at all times
All entrants and whips must be current members of the British Driving
Society and membership numbers to be provided on your entry form
This event will be run in accordance with British Driving Society safety
rules. All participants to adhere to these rules
Young Drivers – The driver must be 10 years of age or over on the day
of the show. A driver under the age of 18 must be accompanied in the
vehicle by a competent and responsible person aged 18 years or over, a
‘responsible adult’
Drivers, grooms and passengers under the age of 14 years must wear a
correctly fitted hard hat whilst on any horse drawn vehicle and this
includes grooms who have dismounted to assist with the horse(s)
The organisers reserve the right to omit, divide or amalgamate any class,
vary the order of classes and times, refuse entry, withhold a prize, cancel
the show or disqualify a competitor at their discretion
In the event of the show being cancelled entry fees received to date will
be returned
No entry fees will be refunded if an entrant withdraws unless supported
by a Vet’s or Doctor’s Certificate
Please park as directed by the stewards
Riders must wear hard hats to the approved standard
All dogs must be kept on leads at all times
Please do not muck out your horsebox on to the show ground.
These fields are used for other public events and animal grazing
Please take all litter home with you
All trophies are perpetual and must be signed for and collected from the
Show Secretary and returned as agreed
No liability whatsoever is accepted by the British Driving Society, the
landowner or the organisers for any damage to persons or property of or
associated with any participant or spectator at this event
Entries are accepted on the understanding that competitors have
read and accepted these show rules

The Show will be right off Motcombe Road as signposted
NB: If travelling from the A303 on the A350 towards Shaftesbury DO NOT
take the right hand turning signposted to Motcombe before Shaftesbury, as
this is very narrow and hilly, but rather continue into Shaftesbury and at the
roundabout (with filling station on left) take the B3081 towards Gillingham
At the Turnpike Kennels and Cattery turn right into Motcombe Road
