`Greenmont Gator Gazette (G3): April, 2015 “Home of the Gators!” Please be sure to visit our website: http://dracutps.org/greenmont-avenue-school A Message from Mr. B Greetings Greenmont Families! Is spring really here?! Mother Nature most definitely had a hard time letting go of winter! I am happy to say that our 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students have made a dent in their MCAS testing schedule. I am so proud of their hard work, diligence and perseverance. We must also applaud and thank the hard working teachers and staff for all they have done and continue to do in getting the students prepared for the test. Thank you also to the many parents who helped with snacks and to the K-2 students, teachers and staff for their incredible flexibility and show of respect and support to the students while they were taking the tests. It was so great to see so many of our “mothers and sons” at last month’s “Prince” dance. Everyone had a great time. Our thanks to the PTO for all of their hard work in making sure that everything went smoothly. We hope to see just as many “fathers and daughters” at our “Princess” dance on Friday, April 10th from 6:00-8:00 pm in our cafeteria. Please also plan to join us on Thursday evening, April 16th at 6:30 pm for our PTO meeting! April will bring more discussions about the 15-16 school year. Teachers will begin thinking about class placement for next year and I will be communicating with families who were redistricted to a different school for this year but were granted a 1 year “stay.” As the warmer weather approaches, we know that many of our students will be participating in team sports. Some of these sports require students to wear hats and/or helmets. Sharing hats and helmets can also lead to sharing head lice. Please be extra vigilant with regard to this as we will sometimes see a spike in head lice cases during the warmer months. We have also started our Kindergarten Registration process. Our first registration day was on Monday, March 16th in the Greenmont Library. The evening registration will be held on Thursday, April 2nd from 6:00-7:30 pm in the Brookside Elementary School lobby. Please be sure that you have all of your paperwork completed prior to coming to registration to ensure a quick and smooth process. Please call us with any questions you may have so we can assist you in bringing the correct paperwork to registration. Please don’t forget that there is no school on Friday, April 3rd in observance of Good Friday. We hope that everyone enjoys the April vacation week. Schools will be closed from Monday, April 20th – Friday, April 24th. As always, we are here if you have any questions!
