Working for Spalding St John’s
intouch
Dear Resident,
It has been my pleasure over the past
few months to have met so many of
the residents I seek to represent
across Spalding. In late 2014, I
began sharing my ideas and
collecting valuable insights from
those that kindly gave their time.
I have written a summary of just
some of the topics discussed on
residents doorsteps in the hope that
the same insights can be shared with
you from the comfort of your home. I
hope these short Q&A’s can help you
make up your mind in the run up to
the election in May.
WHAT WOULD YOUTH OFFER TO YOUR ROLE?
I have always had a drive to make our community a better place to live, and I
believe that youth acts as the enabler of that. I regularly work with other
community supporters from 11 to 30 in my local Conservative Future group
and know how much can be done without unnecessary bureaucracy. I like to
think that my youth provides a better meaning to ‘the best of my abilities’.
I do believe hands on action is the only way to truly understand the scale of
the issues facing residents locally and the key to being the best possible
representative is to truly understand those you represent. After 10 Years in
Spalding St Johns, I am confident my own youth warrants me as the right
candidate for the ward.
HOW CAN YOU HELP THE LOCAL ECONOMY?
As an advocate of decentralisation, I believe that as the national economy
improves we can expect to see more finance and even more control to lower
levels of government. Continuing from the track record of the Conservative
Party in South Holland, I will fight tooth and nail for the maintenance of local
stability. Commitments such as the freeze on local council tax over the last
four years, or the weekly waste and recycling have been at the heart of my
appreciation for local politics.

WHAT ARE YOUR
GOALS?
We all identify with our local
community and recognise the
pressures on the landscape and
environment. We each care
passionately about the beauty or
ugliness of our surroundings, the
cleanliness or dirtiness of the
street we live on, the
performance of our local school,
or crime levels in our
neighbourhood. My goal is to
take a careful and committed
approach to dealing with every
single one of these concerns. As
a younger candidate, I do have a
rare opportunity if I do succeed.
To enable a larger portion of our
community to come forward with
issues, and help engage more
people in the development of our
town.
PRIDE IN ST JOHNS
As some will have seen, during
my time either delivering letters
or meeting residents, I carry a
‘litter picker’ with me to help
tackle street litter in a small way.
I just wanted to remind you of
the South Holland District
Councils ’Do it Online’ forms for
reporting all sorts of local issues,
from fly tipping to Noise
Pollution.
WHAT MADE YOU WANT
TO STAND?
1
I trained as an apprentice and owe a lot
of what I have to the schemes rejuvenation. As a national employment system, I
had not predicted that our own MP,
John Hayes was the driving force behind
this radical reconstruction. Among other
things, I plan to follow suit, and ensure
the right path is available to everybody.

YOUR WARD
PLEASE KEEP THIS MAP AS A
REFERENCE FOR FRIENDS AND
FAMILY.
It is easy to miss or forget the ward you
are on, and it is not always as obvious
as it might seem. That is why I have
mapped the borders in this image. My
hope is that if we all know our ward, and
the challenges it faces, then we are able
to make the best decision on who is the
most capable.
I grew up on Thompson Close, directly in
the heart of the ward. When the
opportunity arose to stand as a
candidate, I did not hesitate.
The turn out for this years election
should be high, so I hope you will
consider keeping this map as a
reference for your friends or family in
the run up to the election.
All the best,
Jack McLean
