Greetings to Membership,
Hey there golfers, the golf season is approaching. Be sure to check out the 2014 Golf Schedule below and
make plans to play in your favorite events. If you are new to the Rolling Hills family, please stop by the Golf
Shop and introduce yourself to us. We can answer any questions you may have, and we will enter you in a
drawing for a Rolling Hills logo golf shirt.
Golf Lessons
It's a great time to get the game in shape. You may contact me at the Golf Shop or by email
([email protected]) to set up lessons. If you have a goal to win your flight in the Club
Championship, to be a state champion, or to just hit golf shots that help you enjoy the game more, don’t
hesitate to set up a series of golf lessons. Lesson rates will remain the same as 2013. If lessons are
indoors, there will be an additional $10 fee for room charges.
New In the Golf Shop
All major brands have new offerings. Ping has introduced a couple new irons along with I25 driver series.
Callaway and Cobra have revamped their whole line of clubs also. If you have any questions, please don’t
hesitate to contact us.
New iron sets are also here. We have Callaway, Ping, and Mizuno irons.
Arriving soon -- new metals and irons from Nike.
Arriving the month of February -- new golf balls from Titleist, Callaway, and Nike. Stop by the shop, and we
will see which ball fits your game.
Footwear: FootJoy and Nike have an exciting new line of golf shoes. These are the most revolutionary
shoes ever. We have men’s and ladies' in an array of sizes.
Men’s Member Guest
2013 participants of the Men’s Member Guest may begin signing up February 1st. Those who sign up early
are assured their tee time preference. Entry fee for this event is $230 per team. Fee is due with
application. Applications are available in the Golf Shop. 2013 participants have priority in signing up until
June 2014. Non 2013 participants may begin signing up June 15th. July 15th is deadline for all
participants.
Used Clubs: We have an excellent connection for buying used clubs. If you are in the market for a good
used set, please contact me.
As always, it is a privilege serving as your Golf Professional. If the staff can be of any assistance, please
don’t hesitate to contact us.

News from the Course
There is not much to report from the golf course at this time. Old Man Winter has kept us at bay for the past
few weeks. The staff is currently working to service all golf course equipment.
We have removed a few trees along the parking lot left of #14 green that were safety hazards because of
dead limbs in the tops. We will continue to remove dead and potentially dangerous trees throughout the
next month. We are still seeing the effects of the 2009 winter ice storm with tree tops continually dying
back from water and insect damage. Some arborists say that the effects will last for many years to come.
With our winter temperatures being very cold for several days this season, I am concerned about the health
of the warm season grasses going into spring. We have experienced one of our coldest winters that I can
recall in many years. Please use the cart paths as much as possible while playing during the winter season.
If we continue to have very low temperatures for many more days/nights, we will have to consider
restricting the carts to the paths for the remainder of the winter and into spring until grasses come out of
dormancy stage and we can assess any potential damage. We will keep the membership informed if there
are any changes to the current cart path rules.
Late winter herbicide applications will be made in late February. During these times we will ask that some
holes be closed to play so no chemicals are tracked onto the greens by foot traffic. Many times it is hard to
schedule this event more than a couple days out because of weather factors. We will do all that we can to
notify the membership when this will happen. So please keep up with the club emails, our Facebook page,
and follow me on Twitter at @RHCCGolfSuper for updates on course closings and conditions.
As of now greens aeration is tentatively scheduled for the week of March 24-28. If there are any changes to
this scheduled practice, we will let you know as soon as we make them.
We are optimistically looking forward to spring weather and a great spring golfing season. And as always,
our staff strives to create quality playing conditions on a daily basis for our membership and their guests.

Rolling Hills.

the office at 270-554-4508, Ext 1.
Member Pride Project
Thanks to all the members who contributed to the latest Member Pride project where we replaced the gas
logs in the fireplace in the Bar. What a huge difference the new logs have made!! They not only look great

days! If you would still like to contribute, it's not too late. Just stop by the Golf Shop or the Bar and make
your contribution. A great big THANK YOU to the following members who have contributed to this project:
Butch & Jennie Freels
Terry & Kristi Porter
Jane & Jeff Parsley
Stanley & Shaun Crane
