Three impact teams: Youth and Community Members, Victim and Survivors, & People Who Batter and Abuse continue to meet quarterly to advance the goals and objectives of the plan. IN 2014, DVN TRAINED 308 ADVOCATES AT 11 AT A GLANCE: TRAINING DIFFERENT TRAININGS. In 2014, The Domestic Violence Network trained 980 adults and 706 youth on the dynamics of domestic violence and dating ADVOCATES GROUP The Domestic Violence Network’s Advocates Group is a network of individuals that share the common goal of ending domestic violence in Central Indiana. The Domestic Violence Network hosts monthly advocates meetings and quarterly advocates trainings. In 2014, The Domestic Violence Network trained 308 advocates in areas such as building stronger relationships with law enforcement, how HIV affects clients, and family law at 11 different trainings. violence in 36 different training sessions. Here is the breakdown by demographic group: Students: 706 Educators/Youth Workers/Higher Education Professionals: 250 Medical Professionals/Students: 333 Advocates: 75 Community Members: 108 Law Enforcement: 23 Military Personnel: 38 Employers/Employees: 153 RESOURCES DISTRIBUTED IN 2014 Shoe Cards: 81,995 Orange Brochure: 8,653 Black Brochure: 841 Total Resources: 91,489 KAREN DEES SELF SUFFICIENCY AND EMERGENCY TRANSPORTATION FUNDS The Domestic Violence Network administers the Karen Dees' Self Sufficiency Fund and Emergency Transportation Fund. These funds are designed to assist a victim of domestic violence to achieve self-sufficiency through rental assistance, matching funds for purchases of cars, attorneys fees related to domestic violence, repair of KAREN DEES SELF SUFFICIENCY FUND: SERVED 187 INDIVIDUALS WITH AN AVERAGE OF $394 PER PERSON. THE EMERGENCY TRANSPORTATION FUND: ASSISTED 254 INDIVIDUALS WITH AN AVERAGE OF $98 SPENT PER PERSON. credit or alleviating other barriers that could prohibit self-sufficiency. In 2014, DVN served 187 individuals with an average of $394 per person. The Emergency Transportation Fund assists victims in obtaining transportation to flee a violent relationship, including relocation to a safe place. In 2014, DVN assisted 254 individuals with an average of $98 spent per person. IMPACT STATEMENTS FROM CLIENTS RECEIVING FUNDING “The funding I received helped me to pay my June 2014 rent. I was able to pay my utility bills and car payment with what I earned that month. This helped avoid disconnections of my utilities, paying late “THE ASSISTANCE I RECEIVED HAS HELPED ME GET BACK ON TRACK...” fees, and reconnection fees. I was also able to be up to date with my car payment. The assistance I received has helped me get back on track with my bills bringing all bills up to date and now I am able to focus on paying bills that are current. I am also saving money by not paying late fees on these bills. Without the assistance I received, I could have been evicted from the place I live now and my vehicle would have been repossessed making it difficult for me to get to and from work and subsequently costing me lots of money in court fees and moving out of the house.” “I AM SO GRATEFUL FOR THE ABILITY TO NOT WORRY ABOUT HOW I WILL MAKE IT TO WORK THIS MONTH.” “This bus pass eliminated my stress and biggest barrier to having new employment. I am so grateful for the ability to not worry about how I will make it to work this month.” A NIGHT WITH THE NETWORK The Domestic Violence Network hosted A prevention efforts. Congratulations to Night with the Network at the Indianapolis Community Health Network: Art Museum on October 4, 2014. Over 220 Health Care guests enjoyed wine and craft beer tasting, Laura Berry: Advocate cigars paired with bourbon and food Juanita Wilkins: IMPD samplings from local area restaurants.
