BUS RADIAL DATA BOOK
The Ohtsu brand has earned a quality reputation in the TBR tire category based on
its focused approach of offering multiple lines serving vehicles performing a variety
of functions. Ohtsu has enjoyed a long history of manufacturing well-designed,
practical tires since its inception in 1944. Ohtsu became a part of the Sumitomo
family in 2003.
The addition of Ohtsu TBR tires will significantly increase the growing Falken product
lines and validates Falken’s continued commitment to enhance its position among its
North American customer base. With its corporate headquarters based in Fontana,
California, which also serves as the West Coast Distribution Center, Falken has four
additional distribution centers in the U.S. including facilities in Mount Juliet, TN;
Dayton, NJ; Irving, TX; and in Jacksonville, FL.
In order to provide the highest level of service and flexibility to its network of
customers, Falken will stock all TBR products in each of its four distribution centers.

launched in Japan in 1983 in response to the
perceived need for an aggressive new tire brand and
was introduced to the North American market two years later.
Since 1983, Falken Tire has experienced explosive growth and
has built an important and valued position in the highly competitive tire
market, and utilizes professional motorsports programs to further develop
and improve passenger vehicle products for worldwide distribution.
Now, more than two and a half decades later, Falken will expand further
as it takes on the responsibilities to market the Ohtsu presence in North
America in the Medium Truck & Bus Radial (TBR) tire category.
In the first quarter of 2010, Falken Tire launched the new Ohtsu TBR
program by offering 16 different lines of Ohtsu products, followed by
SmartWaySM low rolling resistance TBR lines in early 2011. SmartWaySM
tires are encouraged by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
as they are designed to help reduce air pollution from trucks.

FALKEN/OHTSU BRAND TRUCK & BUS RADIAL TIRE LIMITED WARRANTY
1. TIRE COVERED BY THIS WARRANTY
This warranty applies to FALKEN/OHTSU brand truck &
bus radial (TBR) tires bearing a complete description as
required by the US DOT, including full DOT serial number.
This warranty applies to tires manufactured on or after
January 1, 2010. Tires manufactured prior to that date
are subject to the preceding warranty policy. Conditions
and coverage are subject to change at any time without
prior notice.

2. WHAT IS WARRANTED AND FOR HOW LONG
• Cut and chip resistant tread compound
A. Material and Workmanship Warranty
Every FALKEN/OHTSU TBR tires is warranted against defects
in materials and workmanship for the life of the original usable
tread up to 2/32" of the remaining depth or for 5 years from the
date of manufacture, whichever comes first. If a tire becomes
unserviceable during the first 2/32" of wear of the original
tread, it will be replaced with a comparable FALKEN/OHTSU
tire free of charge for the tire, or will be allowed 100% credit.
Thereafter, the amount of credit allowed will be prorated based
on the percentage of usable tread worn, and will be computed
by multiplying the FALKEN/OHTSU dealer’s current selling price
for a new equivalent FALKEN/OHTSU tire by the percentage of
usable remaining tread depth. In any case, the amount credited
shall not be less than the first casing warranty amount described
later in Section B. The costs for mounting, balancing, service,
applicable taxes, FET, etc., are not covered under this warranty
and are payable by the user. Out-of-balance or out-of-round
warranty claims will be accepted only during the first 2/32" of
tread wear.

B. Casing Allowance Policy for FALKEN/OHTSU Steel Radial TBR
Tires. FALKEN/OHTSU TBR tires are warranted to achieve two
retreads.
First Casing Warranty: If for covered tire conditions, an
FALKEN/OHTSU TBR tire at the end of its initial original tread
life at 2/32" tread depth fails to pass inspection for retread, or if
it fails to complete its first retread life, the user will be credited
with a first casing allowance shown in the schedule below.
Second Casing Warranty: If for covered tire conditions an
FALKEN/OHTSU TBR tire at the end of its first retread life at 2/32"
tread depth fails to pass inspection for a second retread, or if it
fails to complete its second retread life, the user will be credited
with a second casing allowance shown in the schedule below.

3. WHAT IS NOT COVERED (EXCLUSIONS)
A. Unserviceability due to damage by road hazards (cut, snags,
punctures, bruises, impact breaks, etc), improper inflation,
irregular wear, wheel imbalance, defective vehicle mechanical
components, accident, fire, chemicals, chain damage, racing,
misuse, overloading, run-flat, improper installation, gross abuse,
or other external conditions of use.
B. Damage due to improper re-grooving of re-groovable tires, and
re-grooving of tires that do not carry a “Re-groovable” marking
on the sidewall.
C. Damage from use of an improper inner tube. Steel radial tires
require radial rated tubes. Use of a non-radial tube in a radial
tire may result in sudden tire failure.
D. Highway tires used on vehicles that are normally operated in
off-highway service.
E. Any failure related to any previous damages or repairs.
F. Tires into which liquid sealants or balancers have been inserted.
G. Ozone or weather cracking on tires presented for adjustment
more than 4 years after date of manufacture, based on
DOT number.
H. Tires used on vehicles registered and normally used outside the
continental United States and Canada are excluded.
I. Tires branded “NA” or “NO ADJ” or any other indicator of
previous processing are excluded.
J. The warranty is limited to tires only, and specifically excludes
loss of time, inconvenience or consequential damage.
4. EXCLUSIONS FOR CASING WARRANTY
A. Casings which cannot be retreaded due to excessive tread wear.
B. Failures resulting from faulty or incorrect retread processing
or materials.
C. Casings that have already been retreaded more than twice.
D. Tires which have the original DOT or retreader’s DOT numbers
removed or are rendered illegible.
E. Casing presented for warranty adjustment more than 5 years
after the manufacturing date, based on tire DOT number.
F. Costs of retreading services or materials are
specifically excluded.

5. OWNER’S OBLIGATIONS
A. Any tire to be adjusted must be submitted to an authorized
FALKEN/OHTSU dealer.
B. Owner must complete and sign the claim form provided by the
FALKEN/OHTSU dealer.
C. Owner must pay costs for mounting, balancing, and other
service charges, including applicable taxes.

6. LEGAL RIGHTS
ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF
MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR USE, SHALL
BE LIMITED IN DURATION TO THE ABOVE PERIOD. TO THE EXTENT
PERMITTED BY LAW, FALKEN SHALL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR
INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, SUCH AS LOSS
OF USE OF THE TIRE OR OF THE VEHICLE ON WHICH IT IS USED,
INCONVENIENCE OR COMMERCIAL LOSS. SOME STATES DO
NOT ALLOW LIMITATION OF HOW LONG AN IMPLIED WARRANTY
LASTS, OR THE EXCLUSION OR LIMITATION OF INCIDENTAL OR
CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, SO THE ABOVE LIMITATIONS OR
EXCLUSIONS MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU. THIS WARRANTY GIVES YOU
SPECIFIC LEGAL RIGHTS, AND YOU MAY ALSO HAVE OTHER RIGHTS,
WHICH VARY FROM STATE TO STATE. THIS IS THE ONLY EXPRESS
WARRANTY APPLICABLE TO FALKEN/OHTSU BRAND TIRES, AND
SUPERCEDES THE TERMS OF ANY PREVIOUS WARRANTY. FALKEN/

Any tire, no matter how well constructed, may fail in use as a result of punctures, impact damage, improper inflation or other conditions.
The failure may create a risk of property damage or personal injury. To reduce risk of tire failure, we strongly recommend the following:

• A LWAYS check the air pressure in all your tires, including the spare,
at least weekly, while cool. Do not reduce air pressure when tires are
hot. Use a tire gauge to check air pressure and maintain it at the level
recommended by the vehicle manufacturer. NEVER overload your
tires. The maximum load carrying capacity of your tires is molded on
the sidewall of each tire.
• A LWAYS check your tires regularly for scrapes, bulges, separation,
cuts, snags, or embedded foreign objects. See your FALKEN/OHTSU
dealer immediately if any such condition is discovered.
• NEVER operate your vehicle in excess of lawful speed limits, beyond
maximum safe speeds determined by driving conditions, or at speeds
greater than recommended for the tire you are using.
• AVOID driving over objects that may damage tires through impact or
cutting, such as potholes, glass, metal, etc.
• NEVER drive on worn-out tires. Tires should be removed and replaced
when the remaining tread depth is 4/32" on steer axles, or 2/32" on
other axles. 2/32" remaining tread depth is indicated by tread wear
indicators molded into the tread grooves.
• NEVER spin your tires excessively during slippery conditions. The
centrifugal forces generated by spinning may cause sudden explosion
of the tire.
• NEVER mix tires of different size or construction on the same axle.
WARNING: SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH
MAY RESULT FROM EXPLOSION OF TIRE/RIM
ASSEMBLY IF PROPER MOUNTING PROCEDURES
ARE NOT FOLLOWED. ONLY SPECIALLY TRAINED
PERSONS SHOULD \MOUNT TIRES. FOLLOW
THE PROCEDURES FOUND IN THE RMA WALL
CHART: “DEMOUNTING AND MOUNTING PROCEDURES FOR TRUCK/
BUS TIRES”.
• ALWAYS match rim diameter with the tire bead diameter.
• NEVER mount tire on a cracked, bent, rusted, or otherwise damaged
rim, or a rim which has been repaired.
• A LWAYS ensure the tire interior is dry before mounting. Moisture inside a tire can damage the casing.
• NEVER put a flammable substance into a tire; explosion may occur.
• A LWAYS clean and lubricate tire beads and rim seat with
approved lubrication media. Do not use gasoline, diesel
oil or any petroleum substance.
• A LWAYS use a safety cage or other equivalent restraining device when
inflating tires.
• A LWAYS use an extension air hose with gauge and clip-on air chuck.
• IMPORTANT INFORMATION is molded on the tire sidewall.
• A LWAYS inflate with dry air from compressor having a properly
working moisture filter.
• Among other information, the sidewall data contain the size, load
range, maximum load and maximum pressure for that particular tire.
• A LWAYS stand clear and NEVER lean or reach over the tire/rim
assembly during inflation.
