A Message from Mr R Rudd, Principal
I would like to take this opportunity to wish all students, parents/carers and your families a very happy and
safe May half term break. We have had a positive first Summer term and look forward to the term ahead.
Examinations - I would like to congratulate students in their well rounded approach to their examinations. Students
have been working vigorously , attending revision sessions both after school and weekends and studying
independently in preparation for their examinations. Students and families should be reminded that there are
extra revision programmes and support in place and to encourage all students
to attend these and participate in the support that is available to them. Parents/
carers please support your child and encourage positive revision habits so that
they are able to achieve their full potential.
End of Year Exams - All students in years 7 to 10 will be sitting end of year
subject exams in June. Students will receive an exam timetable which will also be
published on Show My Homework for parents/carers to view. End of year results
will determine students set groups for the following year.
Community Summer Fete and Car Boot Sale, Saturday 20th June 2015
We are proud to announce that Edenham’s Family Community Group will be
hosting Edenham’s first ever Summer Fete and Car Boot Sale. This will be a fun
packed day for all, with many stalls, activities and refreshments. This is a public
event and we welcome our students, families, friends and local community to
join us! If you would like to be involved by volunteering your time or running a
stall then please get in touch. If you would like to donate a bottle of refreshment
for the school tombola or have any old crockery that you may have please bring
to reception. Timing: 12pm – 4pm (sellers please arrive at 11am) Admission:
Adults (11+) £1.00 Under 11yrs 50p Pitches: Cars single £15.00. Vans and Trade
must pre book, please contact EFCG for details.
Tables are available for hire, please pre book. No dogs except guide dogs. No food

Edenham’s Got Talent - Auditions are now taking place for Edenham’s Got
Talent! The final will take place at Edenhams Summer Fete on the 20th June! The
winner of Edenham’s Got Talent will win a cash prize! If your child has a talent
please encourage them to audition by attending the drama Hall during Friday
lunch times and after school. Please see Ms S Leahy for further details.
Parent/Carer Notice
Hoodies - Please could we remind all parents and carers that hoodies are banned from school. All hoodies will be
confiscated if found please make sure your child does not bring these to school.
Drinks - We would like to reinforce that fizzy, high sugar & energy drinks are banned from school including cans and
glass bottles. These drinks will be confiscated and disposed of if found. Drinks permitted in school includes soft fruit
drinks and water in plastic bottles and cartons only, we thank you for your support.
Vandalism - The school would like to remind parents/carers and students that any form of vandalism, in school or
out of school will be taken seriously and that students will be reprimanded accordingly. Parents/carers will be
invoiced for any costs incurred by the school as a result of their child's actions, thank you.
In Year Admissions - There are a small number of student vacancies available in key stage 3, years 7, 8 and 9. To

Year 6 Summer School - This year the summer school will held during the first week of the summer holidays, week
beginning 20th July. The purpose of the summer school is to provide students with an enrichment opportunity to
support their transition to secondary school.
Rewards trips and Prize Giving Evening - Are taking place throughout the summer term. Students who have been
successful in achieving commendable ATL and B4L scores on their year groups leader board and students who have
been recognised in making significant improvement over this academic year have been invited to attend a rewards
day trip to Thorpe Park. If your child has been successful please be sure to return your child’s permission slip as
soon as possible.
Prize Giving Evening for years 7 to 10 will take place on Wednesday 1st July, successful students will receive a letter
home to invite parents and students to attend the evening. Awards will include the Principals award, Head of
Progress award and individual Subject progress awards. Watch this space for further information.
Activities Day, 10th July 2015 - Students in Years 7, 8 and 9 are looking forward to Activities Day, an annual event
which is held to enhance the standard curriculum towards the end of the school year. Students find attending these
trips a great way of building relationships with students from other Year groups as well as staff who might not

Year 8 HPV Vaccinations - Well done to all Year 8 girls who have received their HPV vaccinations. The school nurses
congratulated the students on their excellent bravery and maturity.
Year 8 Frylands Scout Camp Trip - On Friday 29th - Sunday 31st May. 25 Year 8 students will be going to Frylands
Scout Camp for a Personal Development Weekend. They will be participating in a wide variety of activities including
rifle shooting, rock climbing and quad biking! The students have all been selected for their leadership potential and
will be developing their confidence, self esteem and team work skills. Thank you to Mr Buckley, Ms Leahy, Mr Javid
and all the other staff who have kindly volunteered to help out and make this trip possible.
Please could parents/carers ensure that they have paid by Parent Pay or by cheque and that their child has
returned the medical questionnaire recently issued. Students have been provided with a kit list. Please ensure your
child remembers their sleeping bag and pillow! Do not hesitate to contact me on [email protected] if you

Year 10 Work Experience - All Year 10 students will be attending Work Experience from Monday 29th of June to
Friday 10th of July. A few students are still looking for a work experience placement, if you know of someone that
could help and offer a student a work experience placement then please contact Mrs J Worboys, Careers Officer by

Year 11 Announcements
Year 11 Leavers Prom - Leavers Prom tickets are now available. The Prom takes place at Farleigh Court Golf Club,
Farleigh Common, Surrey, CR6 9PE on Friday 3rd July 2015. The evening begins at 7.00pm and finishes at 12.00pm
midnight. The venue is truly superb, fitting for our Year 11. The cost per ticket is £30.00; this can be paid via parent
pay or cheque payable to Edenham High School, marking the back of the cheque with the students name and
“Leavers Prom”. Included in the cost are: buffet, DJ, Photo booth with free pictures, soft drinks, appropriate
decorations and a number of surprises. It is our wish that every student attends this end of school event to
celebrate their time at Edenham. Mrs Worboys, Deputy Head of Progress, Year 11
Year 11 Leavers Assembly - Takes place on Thursday 2nd July 2015 starting at 2.30pm in the Drama Hall. Attendance
is compulsory as it is the official final day at school for Year 11 students.
Sports News
Vitesse Arnhem Holland Football Tour May Half Term - The school will be taking 40 students during May half term
to Arnham, Holland, for Edenhams annual European football tour. Students will be coached by professionals from
Vitesse Arnham and play against local opposition. This will be our third visit to Holland in six years and each trip has
been a brilliant experience for students.
Under 14 District Cup Final Winners - Congratulations to the year 9 football team who beat Riddlesdown 5-2, to
win the District Cup for the first time at Croydon Arena. Goal scorers were, J Jones, M Harrison, M N Young,
K Burnley and T Daley. The team have had an extremely successful season finishing runners-up in the ‘A’ league
and reaching Round 6 of the English Cup. Well done to the entire squad.

Sports Day - Edenhams annual sports day will take place at Croydon Sports Arena on Tuesday 30th June.
All students in years 7, 8 and 9 are expected to attend and participate in sporting activities. Parents/carers are
welcome to come along to support and cheer on our students during this fun packed day.

Revision and Exams
May Half Term Year 11 and Sixth Form Revision Classes - All Year 11 and Sixth Form students are expected to
attend revision sessions during May Half Term in preparation for their examinations. Students are asked to sign in
at reception upon their arrival. Please see overleaf and the school website for a a copy of the revision schedule.

Year 11 History Revision – Continues Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday after school, Wednesday and Thursday
lunchtime. History half term revision will take place on Saturday 23rd May, Tuesday 26th May, Wednesday 27th May,

RE, Philosophy & Ethics Revision Guides - All students studying RE or Philosophy & Ethics, will be given revision
guides. Would parents please ensure that the revision guides are returned after the exam or a charge will be made.

Additional Science Exams - With the additional science exams fast approaching, year 11 students were provided
with a set of revision notes for the B2, C2 and P2 modules. Class teachers have sets of questions that accompany
these revision notes. Please ensure that all year 11 students sitting the additional science exams revise through
these notes and then attempt answers to all the questions. Mr D Ramnarain, Head of Science
Library - The library would like to say a huge thank you to all students, parents/carers and staff who collected
Sainsbury's ‘Active Kids’ vouchers on behalf of the School.
School Dinners, Reminder - To top up your child's account could we please remind parents and carers to make sure
that you top up your childs’s accounts on parent pay wwww.parentpay.com before your children come to school. It
is very disheartening for the children when they are hungry, buy something and get to the till to discover that they
don’t have enough money, thank you.
